Some crazy Indian guy wanted to get into my computer...I hung up on the idiot!!Called Microsoft.....they know all about it...then why don't you warn us???Duh!!!
After having 222-555-7777 call me umpteen times over a couple of days, I finally answered just to see what was going on. I could tell they were using an automatic dialer because of the pause-and-click before a human picked up. A woman with a thick East Indian accent started reading from a script. She said she was a Microsoft tech and many reports of viruses were coming from my area, so they were calling everybody to get their Windows computer systems fixed. I told her I couldn't understand her and hung up. The calls continued and finally I answered again. That time it was a man with the same thick accent and the same script. He was a bit easier to understand. I told him that my computer was protected and that I had Norton Antivirus. Oh, no, Norton wouldn't catch this bug. I insisted that I wasn't infected and he asked me if I was in the 90--- area code. First I said I was and he said that then I WAS infected because everybody in that area code had this virus. Then I said I had misheard and wasn't in that zip code (true). I gave him the runaround for a while, then told him that he was confused and confusing. I said he was wasting my time and I didn't want him to call back. That was about 25 hours ago and I haven't heard any more from that number. If I do, I've decided to push Girl Scout cookies that my grand-daughter is selling. That should be fun.
whoever it is just called, I picked up because I am getting a few different calls like this, and they hung up. There was no caller I.D.
I got a call today from this number. Man with very strong Indian accent said that his name is Eduardo and that he is cooling from Microsoft in California. Do I have a computer with Windows operating system; I said yes. Then he said that in our postal code area there are e-mails coming in with malicious content and if I go to my computer he will show me how to check. I said NO. He probably was thinking of remote access to my computer. Don’t trust these people.
Foreign accented person claiming to be from Microsoft calling about computer virus or problem. It was very hard to understand him. He said I need to get on my computer so he could walk me through the problem. I said I'm not in front of my computer and I have not had any problems with my computer. He promptly said OK and hung up before I could.
just got a VERY strange call from number 222-555-7777. The rep on the phone said he was calling from Microsoft (very heavy accent) and because I am in Woodinville (which I am not) and the computers running Win 7 are compromised right now, I need to immediately follow his instructions to make changes to my machine because these are more serious than viruses…I asked him who he works for and he said, Microsoft. I asked how he got my phone number and he said because I’m running my Win 7 machine and the Win 7 machines are compromised. I told him I wanted to speak to his supervisor. He apparently got someone who got on the line (speaking very little English). I believe he said my machine is compromised and it’s urgent (couldn’t completely understand what he was saying). I ended up telling him I was not comfortable with the call and hanging up. I tried calling the number back but I get the “this number is no longer in service”. Who do I report this to?
