No. The Summary Judgment was issued in my favor. The attorney did not go forward on the case. The summary judgment is listed in Pacer, in my favor. I am not going to state my name or the law firm, but they are based out of Golden. I'll leave it at that. What court do you go to where you can present evidence without first hand witnesses. You are allowed to present a case without chain of custody or anyone from the original company to testify about the records or how they are maintained? Very odd.
Judgement Without Trial. This means there wasn't a trial, because the defendant didn't show up! Congrats!
Yes, I have been also getting calls for money. I investigated this and what they where saying to me was bogus. The man, Brian Hernandez was very aggressive and rude and demanding that he will send it to court if there is no payment by 4:00 p.m. The calls started months ago and never stop. They also claimed they sent me a letter years ago.
stop refusing your need to justify your need not to take ownership, and just RESOLVE your issues.
My son received calls from this number as well as 877-591-1234.All connected to Standley Law Office. Threatening him over a supposed $750 amount due from US Bank. He took all his paperwork and spoke to a women at the bank who said he didn't owe the bank anything. THEY ARE BOGUS and trying to strong arm people into paying. For every 1000 calls they probably get a couple people who just roll over and pay. Also-the bank said they would never be involved with a law firm who threatened people. My son uses a pre-paid cell phone so interesting that they got that number although they are randomly dialing. OH, and here is a biggie-my son had returned calls from these people and who answered the phone??? The attorney himself!!! Anyone know a single attorney who answers his own phone??
Goggle Standley and Assoc. and the second website down from the top is from 800notes.com with an 866 phone number listed. It has my posts about my recient experience with Standley/GTF. I went to court about the debt then sued them for violation of FDCPA. It was a 2 1/2 year process and I admit I didnt win either but I KNOW what they did to me! I want to help anyone with advice so they know how to protect themselves while the harassment is going on NOW. If you have any questions I have learned ALOT about them thru this process. Post a message on that 800notes.com / 866 number site and I will try to help you with what I know. Someone has to stop their abuse and I will share my experience and information it you need it. The "collectors" troll these sites so please dont let them try to convince you your wrong....you need to protect yourself and not let them abuse you.
I set up a e-mail for questions since it is so hard to double check ALL the different phone number Standley/GTF calls people from. If you have questions please e-mail me and Ill do my best to let you know what happened with my 2 court cases (for questioning the debt then suing them for violation of the FDCPA). I went thru 2 1/2yrs fighting them so I have some inside knowledge. It was a long hard, process! The e-mail is alyssadh101@yahoo.com. FYI - Standley/GTF people.......DO NOT e-mail me! That is considered harassment and you know I wont let you do that to me again!
Okay, I have been dealing with these guys for almost 1 year. They are easily the rudest and most infuriating collection guys I have ever dealt with.In 2002 (yes, 6 years ago) I got into a dispute with a car repair shop for not doing the work they were supposed to do. I had already paid them over $1,500, but I managed to stop payment on a $1,000 check. I expected the repair shop to sue me, but they never did. After a few months, a collection agency tried to harrass me about the $1,000. I wrote them a letter explaining that I stopped payment on the check because I never received the services from the company, and I never heard anything again. Then, last Summer, National Account Adjusters (Law offices of James Standley) contacted me about the check. I notified them -- in writing -- that I not only never owed the money, but that the statute of limitations for suing on the check had lapsed (In Georgia it is only 3 years). It was far too late for them to try to collect.Well, last February they started reporting to the Credit Bureaus that I had an overdue account "in collections". This is an absolute lie, and makes them liable for defamation and lible. I have filed complaints with the FTC, the Colorado Attorney Generals office, and I have disputed the account with all 3 credit bureaus. I tried to call the National Account Adjusters to get this worked out, but they are hopeless. If the above complaints do not get me satisfaction, I will sue them IN GEORGIA. I am pretty sure they won't even bother to show up in court and that I will get a default judgment against them.....but I doubt I will be able to collect any money from them.
Hi Alyssa and anyone else out there who is dealing with this debt collector...As of now, they are again in hot water and under serious investigation with the the Attorney Regulation's Office for questionable collection tactics.Anyone who feels their consumer rights have been violated should contact the Colorado Attorney General's office and/or the Office of Attorney Regulation...they are not the same entities and the AG office will probably send you onto the Office of Attoreny Regulation so you may want to start there.Again, I urge you to contact one or both of these offices if you feel your rights have been violated. They take these allegations serioulsy especially since James Standley's & Assoc. had been placed on probation in the past for collections violations.
