Received a call with this number on the caller ID. Not recognizing the phone number I let it go into voice mail. An automated system left a message indicating there had been potentially fraudulent activity on my Bank of America account and for me to contact the bank. I called the number on the back of my ATM card and was automatically transferred to an attendant in BofA's Security dept. Someone had tried to make a fraudulent purchase using my debit card number. While it is possible to spoof a caller ID, if a phone call is received from this number it is wise to follow up with BofA using a known phone number or at one of their locations.
Just called regular customer service number after reading posts here. First they claimed it was a scam. Then I asked why the number was listed on the back of the card. After a being put on hold for a few minutes the rep came back and stated it is an actually BoA number for customer service. I asked why they called got put on hold again. Rep came back and told it was that they sent me a new debit card because of a retailer security breach. I called number on back and confirm what others on board have stated that it is auto-answering for collect calls. I checked my mailbox and sure enough there sits a new debit card.Customer services reps read scripts and what is on the screen unless you force them to actually do work they just parrot the script. Also since English is a second language for most of the call centers dont exactly understand what is being asked. I had to ask why I got a call for the number on the back of the card and why she couldn't tell me why. 5 minutes of being on hold and I got what others said here. It is a legitimate call as long as they don't ask for personal information. Courtesy calls will never ask you for information if they do it is a scam. If you call the number on the back of the card it will ask for the information just like the 800 number. If you don't feel safe about that number call one on the website and ask why you got a call from the number listed on the back of the card.
this was a legit call for me.. it was BOA's fraud department.. someone was trying to charge things on my account that I did not authorize. Just call the main number to be safe, that's what i did and they transferred me over to the fraud dept. MY card # had to be changed.
315-724-4022 IS a SCAM. Verified with BofA. Do not give any info to them. They claim to be with BofAM fraud prevention dept, but they are not.
Got this call today, it was legit. I logged into my B of A account online and my debit card had been locked because I made a bunch of online purchases they thought might be suspicious.
I just got a call from this number and I hung up and called B.O.A., it was a correct call, I had bought something on-line and it charged me 4 times, guess a computer glitch. However, I hung up on that person calling and immediately called the number on the back of my debit card and they are transferring me to the fraud department to get this corrected.
This was a legitimate call. Some merchant (they don't say who) was compromised and some BoA bank cards were involved. Got an email, the new bank card AND this phone call. . . Not sure what everyone else is talking about but a bit of follow up with actually bank numbers is always a good safe-guard. . .in this crazy world it's ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry. . .
