If you call the same number back, it's an automated system. All you have to do is listen and confirm or deny whichever charges they found to be suspicious. When you confirm that you actually made the purchase the hold is automatically lifted. Right then. Hope that helps for next time. Every time I leave town just about I end up with a hold on my account.
I received a call from the 315 number, let it go to VM, then googled and found this page. Decided to call BoA, they said there was a hold put on my card today for some suspicious transactions over the weekend. Confirmed that the transactions were legitimate, and asked the BoA rep if she could verify that 315-724-4022 was a BoA number. She confirmed it.It's not unheard of for people to spoof cell caller ID, so maybe that's what is happening. If you notice, the callback number is CLOSE to the number on the back of your card, but not identical. So I would suspect that someone is spoofing BoA and giving you a fake callback #.In any case, if it is a scam, I'm actually rather concerned as to how they got ahold of the information that a hold was placed on my card...because as I said I called BoA and it definitely was.
This number -IS- valid. It's listed on the BoA Customer Service page as being their Fraud division number.
This is legit,i withdrew more than i normally do and got the call to verify if i was the one to actually make the withdrawal. I went online to check my acct as well, sure enough there was an alert posted to my account. I guess it's good in a way for my protection.
Okay... I don't have a BofA account, and I got a call from this phone number... I don't think it is legit at all!
They've called me 3 times today. The first time it went to voicemail and said there was unusual activity. The second time i didnt answer. The third time i answered but no one replied. I dont think this is legit.Im not a BoA member...im credit union one.Be careful.
i've been getting this call for about a week now. It started with a text message somebody described earlier, saying there was a hold on my acct. So i checked my online banking and there was nothing wrong with it, and i never received any alert emails. Plus i never gave BOA my cell number, so not sure how they would call me. After that i called BOA customer service number on back of my ATM card (1-800-432-1000), and spoke with a rep. They confirmed that i have no hold/alerts on my account and everything was fine. They just told me to ignore that call and dont give out my info to them. And if i did have a hold or alert on my account it would've sent me an email.Strange how it's legit for some and not for others.
They called me more than five times over last week.Last time I was able to talk to someone there, she asked my SS number.I said I didn't have one, then she asked my passport and ID number. Why? I do not know. I said I left them home. She gave me to call backwith the passport and ID number to 877-733-5734.It made me doubt. I called the number on my bofa card to find out the legitimacy of the call. Bofa say the number is INVALID. YES. AS PEOPLE HERE SAY, THE NUMBER 315-724-4022 IS LISTED ON BOFA WEBSITE, EXCEPT the fact that THE NUMBER IS OUT OF SERVICE AND HAS BEEN LONG DEAD. Other fraudsters picked up this number and started their "business". I advise you to fool around a little bit with those guys if you ever get a call from this number. It will be fun. Say that you are going to sue them, you will reverse trace their location, send police, or anything, be creative. JUST DON'T BE SERIOUS WITH THOSE GUYS.Anyway, if you doubt, simply call the number on the back of your Bofa card.Don't read all those comments below. Just call and find out yourself. When I found about it myself, it was a SCAM. If you don't think so,don't post your opinion here. If you are so confident, why not just let people call and find out themselves, you FRAUDSTERS!
This is an illegit call..!!!I got call from this number twice today morning. first time it went to voice mail and second time it was just a missed call. Later I got an SMS also which said the same thing that my bank of america debit card had some unusual activity and that it's placed on hold till Feb 19! And it asked me to call 1-866-459-9195 number. I didn't respond to the message or call, rather I got bank of america Customer care number and called to verify ad found that these were not calls initiated by bank of america. Whatever it is, if you get a call from this number, call back to Bank of America customer care and check the validity of the call. Better safe than be sorry.
