The number is listed on BOA's legit website: Call UsGeneral Account InformationLost or Stolen ATM or Debit CardOpen AccountEnglish1.800.432.10001.315.724.4022 International CollectMonday-Friday 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Local TimeSaturday-Sunday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Local TimeAutomated support: 24/7
Just received a phone call and Googled the number because they did not leave a message. Since a message was not left, I cannot say for sure that it was a Bank of America phone call. However, I can say that I am not a customer of Bank of America. Either way, it has been my experience that banks do not call asking for such direct information. With my bank, if there is suspicious activity a temporary hold is placed on accounts. It is up to me to call the bank, verify purchases, and release the hold.
The number is indeed a legitimate BOA number... but that doesn't mean it was BOA who was calling: Caller ID is easily faked. Scam artists program their Internet phone (often outside the U.S.) to display the phone numbers of Bank of America (or HSBC or Citi or whoever) in hopes of tricking people. The number one rule is: DON'T BELIEVE WHAT CALLER ID TELLS YOU.If you get one of these calls you should always hang up and then phone the bank yourself - just to be safe call the number printed on the back of your credit card, no matter what number appeared on Caller ID. The worst that can happen is that you'll waste an extra 30 seconds of your time.
Not really. Those caller ID labels can be spoofed. You shouldn't consider that sort of thing as proof.
Yeah, it is legit. BofA SUCKS. They cancelled my card and it will be 5-7 business days before I receive a new card. I now also have to change all my auto-pays with the new card and I will also have to hope that there are no declines for services ie electric. There was NO fraud activity on my account, they just decided to interfere/interupt my account for no reason. I HATE BofA
Not a scam! The 315-724-4022 # is on the back of your debt cards as a number to call collect if you are overseas. If you are calling within the United States they have a 800 customer service number that you call. You should have received a new debt card in the mail if they are trying to contact you and it is a reminder for you to activate your new card. (All telephone numbers should match on both cards) Account number will be different and you will notice that the expiration date will be different as well. If you still feel unsure then call the 800 # and they can verify whether your account is in jeopardy.
Yes it is Legit...I checked my bank account and sure enough someone tried to make 3 withdrawals totalling $1000...they did get away with $400...and the others were blocked and put on hold.
I recently got a call from this number. Went to Bank of America website to discuss over chat feature and this is the final question I asked. Take as you will, but according to Sam, the number is a legit customer service number. "you: is 315-724-4022 a legitimate BoFA number?Samuel: Let me check this for you.Samuel: One moment please.Samuel: Thank you for waiting.Samuel: It is a Bank of America Customer Service number however as per our records we can see that your debit card is not involved in data compromise.Samuel: I would request you to please ignore the call that you have received.Samuel: You might have received it due to error."Just showing what the convo stated. All of you tinfoil hat - wearing weirdos can call this a scam all you want. Call BofA for youselves and see.
