I was online sending my dad some money through Paypal and before the transaction went through, it gave me a 4 digit code and said they would contact me and ask for this code to verify my identity. I got the call within seconds, it was from this number and an automated message asked for the 4 digit code. Afterwards, I went back to the webpage and continued and voila, transaction successful! So yes, this is definitely Paypal but I doubt they would randomly call you so beware of rogue calls.

Just to confirm something I have not seen mentioned yet. This is a Paypal number 100%. How do I know? This number is pay pal. Got a call today from them. They were verifying a transaction I made yesterday. Since it was a large amount and my first transaction with that vendor they called to make sure it was legit.This is the sign of a good company looking out for those who use their services.I can't believe the ignorance of many of the posters to this thread.

This phone number is a legitimate PayPal number, whether the charge that is being reflected is legitimate or not is a separate matter but the representatives with PayPal were happy to assist me in determining this.
