No mesage. I called the number, long delay. They say press "1" to have number removed "preferred promotional list" or some such nonsense. Cold calling is illegal.... they should be shut down by the powers that be.

They called today and when I realized it was an automated speil, I hung up immediately. I am going to put this number in my phonetray program. It will play them a "not in service" message next time they call. The software is free and works pretty well. Not sure if this will stop the calls but at least we will not have to deal with them.

Received call from this number this morning. When answering machine came on they hung up before leaving a message. I am on Do No Call List but have been calls from unwanted companies.

Am on the Do Not Call list, and this is a violator.

"Credit card services, nothing wrong with your card", I hung up, created a new contact with "silent" as the ring tone. Where's my whistle when I need it?

Sue - the simple answer is NO! Almost impossible to stop. These calls come from multiple groups of people who use spoofed caller ID names and numbers. The calls can come from anywhere in the world. And a quick note about the Do Not Call List - they are not free to companies. They have to buy it. And many companies buy the list because they know the numbers are good.

I get calls from these people several times a week. "Hello. This is Heather with Account Services".These calls come from varying area codes and of late are coming from area codes I call quite often. Is this just a coincidence? I am now using a very shrill assault whistle as a greeting to these calls.

Called me today; I pressed 1 to be removed from their call list. Someone picked up & said they could offer lower interest rate on my Chase card. They rambled off 3 different sets of first 4 digits on Visa cards. Only the last one was mine, but I wouldn't even fess up to that. Then they asked for the expiration date on my card. I refused. Said to send something via email or snail mail. They said they needed the information before I could talk to their supervisor about lower rates, and that as long as I didn't give them the 3 digit security code on the back I would be fine. I refused. They hung up on me. I cancelled my card and Chase is sending a new one. They will only offer lower interest rates through mail. Don't give any information to anyone over the phone.
