got a msg from this number. she says she's from shdka nlhadhdhLU jkhdsfl jkkgg (sorry, that's the best I could understand what she said!) said to return the call at 877 749 4933. uh huh, sure i will! ;-)
Really was the Census Bureau. I called them, my phone dropped the call, and same person called me back.
They continue to call my home number and now just started calling my cell phone. It's not even national census time and they call just about every day. I let it go to voice mail. We don't have time for their crap.
I suspect NSA special ops- under shell of Department of Commerce or National Science Foundation, depending on specific cover sheet. Both were mailed for the same survey, followed by numerous calls.Want to know all about your education and job history- what you have been doing all your life! Dept of Commerce brought us NAFTA and GATT; what business do they have snooping into personallives after destroying middle-class manufacturing jobs in the US? Why don't they study just who took down (the third) building #7 in New York! Showed up at my neighbor's house last week. Constant calls..... If the survey were anonymous then it could be a legit random survey, but with names- no way! Data mining, pure and simple.
Everyone, the goal of this scam is to get your personal information. It is not the Census Bureau, but a scam artist who is impersonating a govt agency to get you to give them your data. The phone number is spoofed to make it seem legit. That is not the real number they are calling from and they might not even be calling from the US. They are a criminal enterprise and do not care about "do not call" or any other laws. It is all about identity theft. Do not give them any real information.
That is absolutely not true-I have been getting the same calls from the same number (the 240) number from a variety of different people. If they were calling from their private home with the same nember, it would be the same person! You have no clue to what you are talking baout. And, yes-the number could be an actual census bureau number-however they does not represent the actual number people call from. I am a phone operator and on our caller id people have listed 777-777-7777 all the time so I cannot know who is calling us. And-why would a governemnt agency allow its citizens to give out personal info over the phone. The last 2 times they called I told them I found out they are a scam and both times they hung up on me while I continued to talk, This is not what a government worker would do!
