I did some research and found that this is a legitimate number, however it took a while to get to the root of the call. Found out the number came from the Tucson,AZ office. They called us at 10pm central time. I started with the US Census KC regional office and they were very helpful. The Jeffersonville, IN office, not so much.
in addition the census has to be available as much as possible to meet the schedule needs of all residents of the US. there are contact centers that make calls to homes in Tucson, AZ, Hagerstown,MD, and Jeffersonville,IN. we are open in some cases depending on the time Zone from 5am to midnight. and 7 days a week. our job is to be working when the population is home so we are actually able to contact people. for anyone that was willing to read a post or make his own here i suggest spending that time edcucating himself about something as important as a federal census before concluding on it blindly.
Received 2-3 calls every day for almost a month from 520-798-4152 with caller ID "Census Bureau". I went to my local Federal Govt Building which has a Census Bureau Office, and they informed me this was not a legitimate US Census Bureau activity. Smells suspicious to me!!
all questions can be reviewed on census.gov to ensure that the questions asked on the form are the same as the ones asked over the phone. census.gov. then put your cursor over the word "Data" and click on American Community Survey. then click on the tab that says "about the survey" then click on "questions on the form and why we ask"
same thing...they call every day 5 x a day. I told them to mail me stuff to fill out and they won't. They want to ask questions about very personal information over the phone. We've all trained ourselves not to do that. We hear and read warnings about these types of scams from the Gov't. Preach this!
saying things like "most likely" and "probably" all the while misinforming the public is doing a disservice to yourself as well as anyone that is misguided by your false statements. anyone reading this should inform himself on census.gov instead of taking the word of a random poster on this site. you can always call the census bureau directly instead of taking advice from a bad source. if you need information about how the census works then ask us directly.
