These creeps call me at least once a week and I promptly report them to the FCC. They send me a confirmation of my complaint but do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO STOP THIS CROOKED GANG!! I have repeatedly asked what good the no-call list is when I continue to be annoyed with constant calls from this same bunch of idiots - Ohio Telecom Inc. in Attica Ohio. I get no response to that question. In my opinion the no-call list is a phony program created by phony politicians.
Just go to your telephone company web site and BLOCK the offending number, so it will not be able to come thru. But that's nothing permanent, because those Caller ID spoofers use a number for one day or so, then start to use some other number. The numbers they use are abandoned numbers, not yet reassigned by the telephone companies. From Wikipedia:Caller ID spoofing is the practice of causing the telephone network to display a number on the recipient's Caller ID display which is not that of the actual originating station. The term is commonly used to describe situations in which the motivation is considered malicious by the speaker or writer. Just as e-mail spoofing can make it appear that a message came from any e-mail address the sender chooses, Caller ID spoofing can make a call appear to have come from any phone number the caller wishes. Because of the high trust people tend to have in the Caller ID system, spoofing can call the system's value into question. It is amazing that such a crooked practice is allowed to go on!Where are the feds when I need them????? I wrote to my US Rep...no response!Bottom line: IGNORE IT and never give the other side ANY information. PERIOD!
I got a call today from this number and the caller ID was actually honest! It said "Phone Scam" and the number. I do not answer these calls and am also on the do not call list. These people need to be arrested for harassment!
I too received one of these calls, and like a stupid fool gave them my CC info (but not all of my cards), When he kept asking for another card and I wouldn't give him the info on, because I was getting an uneasy feeling about all this so I started asking for verification of who they were, they hung up... I promptly called my CC carriers and put a block on all my cards. Sometimes I do stupid things and today was one of them...
Love it. Finally either the FCC or the phone companies are figuring out the code for the spoof or robocall and warning us with the caller ID showing PHONE SCAM. Good thing I was sitting down when I looked at the caller ID or I would have fallen over in disbelief seeing that. And to the posters asking why don't they stop calling Do Not Call numbers they have to obey the law and look at the list first of all. Since they are not obeying the law they won't. And since they spoof or use illegal numbers the government agencies can't stop these scum.Hope whoever is doing the Phone Scam ID keeps it going on all the others. I let the answering machine pick up unknown calls and of course this one left no message.
I filed a complaint on this company too. Thanks for the web address. Big help. Fast and easy to make complaint. Tell them to look up the number 567-248-4400, when you call. They will see multiple compaints and then proceed to take yours as well. The more complaints, the more efforts to investigate.Ohio Attorney General's Office 800-282-0515
