I too have gotten these calls and oithers. Whenever I get a call from a number I don't recognize, I switch to speaking Spanish or even Chinese. Apparently they are not prepared for this and hang up.What would be idea is if we could source the real numbers for these fools and begin our own DOS calls to them. One after the aother.
Woman with accent explaining she was calling me from the World Wide Web. She explained they had received error messages from my computer and wanted to have me give them access to the computer so they could correct. When I asked "Specifically what error message did you receive and can you give me the IP address for me to verify" she stumbled and then continued with her script and ignored my question. I explained if she did not have the level of expertise in excess of my own, she would NOT be remoting in to ANY of my computers. I asked her to remove my # from the list...not confident that will occur.
Received 2 calls from this number, June 29 and July 4. We don't answer calls from unknown parties.
"Brian" called from Microsoft Worldwide to help me with my PC. I told him I didn't owe any computers and that he needs to stop calling me. Then I screamed into the phone and hung up. They call me every single day.
Just received a call from this number again saying my computer has a virus. Asian sounding lady says she is calling from world wide web. When pushed she said she works for PC technologies. I said I was doing what she wanted, was in fact not in front of my computer, and she wanted me to go to www.teamviewer.com. Press on allow to give access to remote operation so she could fix. She got mad at me when I said I pressed cancel. She said I had "better be very sorry" for not following what she said to do. She then hung up. I so hope no one falls for this scam.
Caller ID New York NY. Left no message. Another scammer, another illegal telemarketer. We don't answer numbers or caller Ids we don't know, then just block them. Other ploys we use is to just pick up phone and say nothing. It usually disconnects in several seconds and gives robocaller a non-working number. We usually don't hear from them ever again.
Report them to the Attorney General in your state. If you're on the do not call list, then report it to them.:-)
Guy with thick accent calls, tells me he is going to help me fix my Microsoft on my PC. I yell at him that I own a Mac, take my name off your list, don't ever call me again. Every day, between 3-6pm, I get the same phone call. Dang.
I've gotten five calls in the past three days from 646 612 3456. The caller ID says "Anna Cusi", but that's probably a fake name. "646" is a New York city area code.I say "hello", I hear background noise, nobody speaks for a few seconds, then I hang up. Either they're slow to get into their script, or they're waiting to see if I'm a real person and not an answering machine. If I call the number back, I just get a busy signal.
Man said he was calling about my computer.I told him I didn't have a computer. He apologized for calling and hung up.They call about once a week. I don't answer. Need to put my number on the "Do Not Call List" again, as I had also told the guy to put me on the no call list, but they're still calling. Then when I report them, hopefully I'll collect some money! I think it's $500 per call. :-)
