Got this call on October 16 sayin I received a 7,000 dollar grant. I was at work and said "this sounds weird I don't want the money" he replied sayin no no this is 7000 dollars you keep and never pay back" I said "okay wwhatever. but I'm at work. Call me later please." Now it's October 20th (conveniently pay day) and he called while I was in the truck with my fiance. This Indian accent guy was telling me I received 7,000 dollar grant from the government and never have to pay back. Reasons why is 1. I applied for a grant 2. I filed bankruptcy (my fiance did but i djdnt) 3. I have no criminal record. I was getting frustrated and kept asking him to repeat himself. I put my phone on speaker and my fiance listened. He then took the phone off speaker and spoke to the caller. The caller responded (woo... Well sir like I was telling your wife, she has recieved 7000 dollar grant blah blah blah. Anyway my fiance couldn't understand and asked why are you giving us the money he said because I declared bankruptcy. He said I declared not her. So the caller turned around and said "yes because of your bankruptcy the government is giving the grant because you owe 7000 dollars to the government due to unpaid taxes over the last few years" my fiance has paied taxes and filed them as well. I have never filed taxes because I qualified to low last year. Immediately that was a red flag. My fiance asked to speak to someone he could understand. The man said okay and 4 seconds later he got back on the phone and said okay you are getting 7000" my fiance cut off and said no no no I asked for someone else". The caller got defensive and argued the he spoke proper English. Finally at the end of the call I said this is a total scam. My fiance said "I don't want your fake money because this is a scam" then hung up the phone.

I didn't answer. No message was left. Thanks to everyone who left information here.

Repeated cals. when I called back says not in service

Received a call from this number identifying themselves as the IRS with a message to call back and a threat that they will be taking legal action against me.

This was a female voice with a heavy accent claiming to be from some government department and she said that my phone number had been chosen to receive some government money. I said OK and let her ramble on for a second before asking her how stupid she thought I was and not to call again. I got 5 more calls from this number over the course of this afternoon. My machine will be picking up for the rest of the day.

Calls constantly like every day. When I pick up the phone, I hear a strange noise or it hangs up. No one is ever at the end of the line. Very creepy

Originally was getting these calls from "unknown" but last call was from this 703# same guy, saying he was calling from the "Federal Government" and that I was getting "free" grant my ney of $7,000 that I would never have to pay back or pay taxes on as income. Very strong accent. Originally said that I qualified because of my city/state location and when I asked him where I lived he kept saying that he was in Washington, DC. I finally told him that I have was a police officer and that the call was being traced and recorded...he immediately hung up.
