I did get a message stating " Chase Fraud Protection " . When I called back wanting to play their game, I answered their "verification " questions incorrectly. They detected this and I was put on hold. I got tired of holding so I hung up. Googled the number which verified my suspicions.
Fake Phishing SCAM!! Just got message and called number on back of card. No alerts on card.
I'm coming to visit you Diablo
The call was legit. There was a fraud alert on my account. I did tell them the automated message sounds very suspicious.
Well, were going to have to hunt these people down.
It is REAL call from Chase! I got a text msg from them also confirming my last transaction...
This is actually not a scam, but a good reminder to never reply to phishing. If you receive a call from this number, call the phone number on the back of your card and ask for the Fraud Department. They can actually help you to verify the transaction in question. I was convinced that it was a scam at first, but determined otherwise. Here is my story:I made a transfer to a newly added external account today and fairly soon after, received a voicemail from this number, with recorded message with my name, a reference number and a phone number to call. I did not call the number. I instead contacted Chase, where the rep stated my account looked fine and that if they suspected an incorrect charge, they would have frozen my account. She also looked up the number and stated it was not a Chase number. Then I received a second call from this number. After the second call, I called the number on the back of my card again and asked for the Fraud Department. A rep in the fraud department could see where my account had been flagged to verify the transfer. He said that the recorded verification is done by a 3rd party company, hence the reason why the phone number will not show as a Chase number when the rep searches the directory.Bottom line.... it's not a scam, and Chase really does want you to confirm something on your account. But to be safe, I would never give information to a person who calls you. I would contact Chase directly and ask for the Fraud Department to sort it out.
This number IS NOT BOGUS, After getting a call on answering machine that said they were the Fraud Protection Dept, and left the number 800-366-1962, I called my local bank, and they verified to me that the number WAS the Fraud Protection Dept. It is, however, a good practice to call or visit your local bank to verify any such calls & telephone numbers BEFORE dialing such a number.
got call today from (800) 366- 1962 on my Voice mail claiming to be from the Chase Fraud department saying to call back immediately with reference# 713889.
