Recvd. automated message today as well. Indicated they were calling from Chase Fraud Prevention and told to press a number to confirm. Then requested a call back at that number and left a reference #. I did not google the number before calling Chase customer service who then confirmed that they did not call about my account. Strange thing is I just opened my account recently. Who is this and why are they calling???? Chase definitely needs to do something.
Just received several missed calls from this number. Said I had fraud on my account. I played along when calling back as it requested my security info... Which it new some sensitive info about me. Then I hung up and called back to test if it accepted incorrect answers. And it actually caught the wrong answers. This is a good fraud if it's not chase. Then I finally got someone on e phone. She had me wait while she got her "colleague" on the call. Jackie was her name, heavy accent. said she needed to verify my info. They asked for the last8 numbers of my debit card..which I gave...then she said she would connect me to their automated pin System... That's when I said enough and told them I was uncomfortable. She said I could also go into a branch o workout the fraud issue. (weird)She said she couldn't release any info until I confirmed my of my details.
I have gotten two messages from this number as well. Along with a "reference number" telling me to call about the fraudulent activity on my account. I was about to call Chase direct but then saw this string after a quick google search of the number. Glad to see people are getting the word out.
This is a legitimate call from chase. I recived a messgae from 800-366-196. I called the # on the back of my card and spoke to someone who confirmed that chase had tried to contact me. It was an automated system that was reaching out to confirm charge atempts on a previously compromised card. I work for a major credit card company and we also contact customer about potentialy fraudulent charges. Sometimes a customer may have an autmatic bill payment service trying to bill a previoulsy compromised card. We sometimes contact the customer to inform them of the decline.
You should be fine, First, the # is from Chase, Second, a perp, would not advsie you to go into a branch. I was a teller for Chase, we used to help customers w/debit card issues all the time. The personal bankers would usually just call fraud prevention for you then give the phone to you to verfy charges. I now work as a fraud analyst for a major credit card company. We also reach out to customer to verfy charges. We always advise someone if they don't feel comfortable with the call to just call the on the back of the card and ask to speak to the fraud department to resolve the issue.
This is not a Chase number. I just called Chase and confirmed this. This is fraudster looking to steal account details. DO NOT CALL THEM BACKCall Chase number on the back of your card if they contact you.
got message on cell phone. Returned call and got a please hold forever. Finally someone who called her self Shauna answered and asked if she could put me on hold. I hung up. Went to a Chase bank and we called the real number together. Like others, I am curious as to why Chase hasn't been able to do something about this Phishing call.
This guy is bogus! Call is a fake. It does appear to be a sophisticated scam, heck they even put you on hold, but without the crappy elevator music, that should be a dead give away. I called the number on the back of the card a person answered within 20 seconds. They had no knowledge of any fraud.
