This is a division of Macy's - their credit collectors. When I called and was asked to give out a bunch of personal info, I too became concerned. I called the customer service # on my Macy's card and voiced my concern.
I get at least 5 recorded messages per week "not a solicitation" from someone claiming to be from macy's looking for Pedro Franco. I am not Pedro Franco. I don't even have a Macy's card.
This is an actual Macy's number, not a scam. I had the message on my machine saying to call the number. Somehow I had 2 account #'s with just one card, and wasn't notified of a bill on one of the cards, therefore resulting in a late payment. So i payed the bill over the phone then afterwards became suspicious, what did i just do? So i called the Macy's number on my bill and they confirmed the payment i had just made and that it was legit.
I have to change my previous post. When I got home from my office I called Macy's and they did indeed have me as past due (I made the payment on their web site, and they applied it to the wrong account). So while I still won't give out an account number unless I call the number on the card or the statement, it does seem that the call was legit.
I finally emailed macys asking about this telephone number and they informed me it was a collection agency. but before then I got the same answering machine asking me to please hold but took me nowhere. but now a days i do not trust anybody. even if macys told me it was their collection agency i sill wouldnt give an acct number
I also have received calls from them, and do not have a macy's card. I talked to a gentleman who removed my number and said I would not receive any more calls from them. I did not give him my name or my personal information. He had no problem removing my number. He was actually pleasant to deal with (although clearly it was overseas) and did not give me any pressure to give out personal info.
800-511-3207Says they're Macy's about a personal matter. A couple of months ago I triple checked by calling Macy's customer service directly to ensure that my account had been closed. They said they recently re-opened it without any interest on my part to do so. I re-closed it and verified zero-balance and asked for that in writing in U.S. Mail which I received. I complained to my cell phone company about nuisance calls and they ceased for awhile until today they started up again. This has caused me to not even go shopping at Macy's anymore with any other credit card, whether this is a scam or not.
I had about 6 voicemails asking to call this number with regards to a personal matter regarding my Macy's account. I called, was clearly talking to someone oversees, but not once did he mention Macy's. When he asked for first my card number and then when I did not give it to him, my SSN, I got really suspicious. He said he looked up my account by my name and could not see any issue with my account. He appologized for my inconvenience. The other weird thing? When I asked for his name, he gave me his FULL name, and not just his first name. He is not supposed to do that! Well, I continued to get calls from them so I called the number on the back of my Macy's card. She said the calls were legitimate and that someone else's name was associated with my phone number. Supposedly she fixed it....but the calls still continue.
