Received a recorded message to call 1-800-511-3207 about a Macy's account. No name was given and only said it was important reference to recent activity. Call the number back and an Indian (accent) male answered and asked if I had a Macy's account I said no but maybe my son or wife does. He said to call back because the system was down. I told him I wasn't calling back because I didn't have a Macy's account.
I got a call on my cell phone. The message said, "personal matter" I called them and learned the company is HCL Technology. They are a debt collection agency.My question is, where did they get my cell phone number? There are probably only 20 people on the planet that has the number. Macy's does not, and I do not have any card with them.
Recording from # 868-849-3243 told me Macy's was calling me and to return the call to 800-511-3207. I havn't had a Macy's account in years and if it matters, a person would be calling me!
Wise decision. It kills me to read about people giving this mysterious number their personal information. Scams are getting more sophisticated and people are panicking about credit. Bad combination! ( I Wouldn't be surprised if the call costs $10 a minute). Get a free credit report and check your info periodically!
These calls are originating from India. Macy's outsources them to a foreign country. I called the 1-800-511-3207. They want personal information, which I DID NOT give. I did give my phone # that they have been calling, and told them to put me on the "Do not call" list. So far, so good. October 14, 2008
Getting daily calls from this number. I have blocked this number but it is still very annoying
Got this number called me twice today. Fortunately I check it out before getting back. I won't answer any 1-800 calls in the future! I had unauthorized charges with my Macy's credit cards and they are still investigating. I called the Macy's number on the credit card instead. Need to be extra careful about whom you talk to and never give out information to this type of callers.
Get several calls a day,don't answer. Leave message their from Macy's. Give me serial number to call back. They know my name. Macy's know nothing about this. Very aggravating!
800-511-3207 keeps calling me and leaving a voicemail message saying they're calling about a debt on a Macy's account. They don't leave a name for whom they are calling. I made the mistake by calling them back. (Foreign accent) After I explained that they keep harassing me on my cell phone number. I gave them my cell number . the clerk said that don't have my account and asked for the last 4 of my social security #...(Alarm went off in my head) NO... this is Scam. I told them to remove me from their calling list and she said that she can't... I'm not going legal on this but I threatened it. I don't even have a Macy's credit card.
