I got a call from this number and tried to use my caller rejection service to block it. It wouldn't work. I received another call and answered it. The woman told me they were doing telemarketing for American Express. I told her to take me off the list. THEN, I called the customer service number on the back of my AMEX card - which is not 800-528-4800. I politely told the customer service rep that I was receiving telemarketing calls from 800-528-4800. I asked to please be removed from all telemarketing lists. He said he would make that note on my account and that it could take up to 30 days for my name to get off the lists. I thanked him politely. Hopefully this works.
I don't know who these [***] are, but they have been calling five times a day for the last three days. Was blocked on the first call, but they're too stupid to figure it out.
I have just started receiving calls from this number multiple times a day. I picked up once and they just hung up, and ever since I have let it go to voicemail where an automated message plays trying to get me to push a button to connect to something...and they give a name that is not my name. It's gotta be a scam because I don't actually have an AmEx card anymore!
It is American Express offering a new service. I told the operator (nice woman) that it's annoying to pick up the phone again and again and have no one there. She apologized and explained the system dials numbers and when someone answers, it connects to the operator to talk, unfortunately, there is a delay. This is the dead air you hear when you answer the call. If you don't stay on the phone, you never hear the operator answer. (I think sometimes it disconnects on it's own) I told it was irritating. She agreed. I told her if they can't get a better system, to please remove me from their call list. It also came up as "unknown name".
They call my cell phone continuously, even leaving messages. It is an automated number claiming there has been activity on my Amex account and asking me to verify my information
For me this was a legitimate call from Amx Fraud Alert that followed the alert email also received. I did not give them any information then what they already had. There were fraudulent charges to be dealt with, unfortunately. Doesn't mean any number cannot be spoofed; for me it was legit this time.
I doubt it's American Express. If they are calling the right person and the need to talk to someone THEY will leave a message!!!
This is a caller ID spoof that tries to get you if you're not paying attention. The caller number is blocked ("Unavailable") but their name is listed as 1-800-528-4800 to trick you into thinking it's American Express.
