We continously get calls from this number and several other numbers. They do not leave a message or speak to us.

Received a call from this number at the office I'm a gatekeeper for. CID said AMERICANEXPRESS, all caps and all one word. There was a recording already in progress when I answered but I couldn't make out what they were saying because it cut off almost immediately.

My number is unlisted. Yet they called and the caller ID voice said "Legal Services." That was the same identity of an earlier 800- call today with 7 different digits after it, which also said "Legal services" on the digital audio voice. How can this shady outfit use AmEx's 800 number? I'd be furious if I was AmEx. The caller must have some equipment that displays the AmEx number of 800-528-4800, but which is actually a different 800-number for some "legal services." I'm having my utility company investigate both numbers.

It may or may not be a legitimate number for American Express but as scammers can easily spoof phone numbers, you should NEVER trust the caller ID or what the caller claims. And NEVER give them personal information of any sort. If they claim there's a problem with your card, hang up immediately and call the number on the back of your card or on your statement.

This is in fact Amex even though the person calling spoke broken English and sounded like a complete scammer. I didn't believe it was them until they were able to provide proof of everything about my account. I was seriously convinced it was an Indian spam center but it turned out to really be Amex. They will ask you the stupidest questions about you and your account if you stay on the line with them.

I keep getting these calls too, who is it? I say hello hello hello, after a minute I give up and hang up. Now I put them on hold. LOL,

It's Amex Fraud prevention! If you call back the number from a different phone its Amex.

Just got a weird letter from AMEX saying I was added as an account manager for some person I have never heard of it. The letter said to call this number, provide the account number for this random Bradley A Lewis and set up my pin.Strange stuff.
