1-800-754-0961 Just another phishing scammola. This is a recording that I have had many times before at work. I never call back or answer. Too Bad!
My husband received a phone call a few days ago and the caller claimed to be with Verizon Wireless (who our phone plan is with) but was asking for my mother's phone number and information (she is head of the account). When he wouldn't give them the information they gave him a phone number for her to call back. He typed the phone number in here and found it was a scam. After warning all the members of the family on the phone plan, my mother received a call tonight from a male claiming to be from verizon. They were asking for me using my maiden name. She asked who he was and what he wanted me for. The man just kept repeating his name (Kris) and stated he needed to speak to me. As soon as she got pushy he hung up on her. It was an unavailable number. Now we have received 2 phone calls in the past week. I'm not sure how they got our information but they know we are on the same plan apparently.
THIS IS A SCAM, THEY CALL FOR YOUR BILL THAT IS NOT EVEN DUE........And when you talk to someone they don't know why they called!!!!
I just got off the phone with the number that has been mentioned throughout this thread. (949.286.3311) They were reminding me I have a end of balance due from Verizon Wireless. After reading through this I've come to realize it's either a scam or collection agency for Verizon. They did threaten me that if I didn't pay it would go to collections, so either they're a routing system from Verizon TO collections or they're Verizon's collection agency I don't know. But, after reading through this post I'm not going to take any chances by calling the number (800.754.0961) they gave me and pay to them. Reason? I was under the impression I had a certain ending amount but talking to this individual it was in fact almost DOUBLE the amount. I'm not saying it is or isn't but I will get to the bottom of this when it comes time and will call Verizon Wireless directly instead of taking "her" advice and doing it over the phone. If anything I will send it into Verizon. Too many red flags and after reading this... I will NOT be using the number she told me to use to pay over the phone. Thanks 800notes for saving me quite possibly a lot of grief and maybe even 100s of dollars.
This is not a scam you [***] idiots. VZW will call you if your past due, period. Take a look at your acct balance and your contract. There is no grace period. Bills are due upon receipt and you have until your due date until it becomes past due. Also, verizon collections are set up regionally. some people get calls from 800s, some from local numbers. Trust me, I'm past due a lot and these payment arrangements have saved my [***]!!! And as someone who ahs had ATT and sprint, I can say all companies collect, but not everyone will help me out like VZW.
As an ex-employee at the Rancho Cordova, CA Center, VZW (Verizon Wireless) never calls you if you're late on your bill. You (the primary number on the account, if there is more than one phone), will only get a text message from Financial Services. It would be a good idea if you haven't done it already is register for your free "My Verizon" account on Verizon's website and keep tabs on your usage and make your payments directly through them. You can also make a payment using the *PMT (+send) command from your handset.
Just got one from a call named "Karen." She was calling my phone, looking for the primary plan holder, which happens to be another family member. I tried to get information, as this was a "cell" calling me, and not a business. The number she gave me was the 1-800-754-0961. So, it's a shame that this is unresolved 2 years later.
I got a call from that number and just called Verizon to ask about it. It is definitely a scam. First of all, they called my home number, not my cell, it did not say Verizon in the caller id and they asked about my daughter's number, not mine, which is the main number. Just hang up.
Glad this site is here. Just got a VM from someone telling me to call 7540961 immediately. I never call any number I dont know or answer unknown calls. After reading all of these posts I will be informing the rest on my plan to ignore these calls as well. Although when I looked it up online I was given info that this number was a landline in Davis,CA. Any which way I only pay my bill on the verizon site so the scammers are out of luck.
