I recieved calls from this number at least once a day. I called back and it was Capital One asking for my 16 digit account number so I hung up. I checked my accounts online and all was good. Next time they called I answered and they said something about a new law taking effect in 2010 regarding transactions that make you exceed your credit limit. They stated if you opted "yes" than you would be allowed to make purchases that exceeded your available limit (such as the need for emergency gas etc.) and if you did make one of these transactions you would only be charged 20.00 instead of 39.00. They provided my last 4 of my account and only asked that I verify my zip to ensure I was the actual customer.
Also have been getting these calls asking for my account number, I told them if they are really Cap One they have this info and hung up. Called the real Cap One and they did say it is one of their extensions and it is legit, I will not answer this number again, still not sure why they ask me for my acct. number if they are who they say they are!!
If this indeed Cap One.....I don't understand why when they call the caller id does not identify as so. It shows up as 800 service. I do not answer calls that do not provide a viable company or persons name. Our cable company does the same...hides behind an "unknown caller" id. Why don't these companies get with it and identify themselves..........
Has been calling me randomly the last couple of days... I called them back and it has been asking for my capital one account number.. I don't have anything with capital one.. I finally listen to one of the other comments and entered 16 0's.. and it gave me a new menu.. pressed 0.. and got an "agent".. didn't give him any info.. just said I don't have an account with capital one so why the [***] do you keep calling me.. then the guy said one second let me look... yet i gave him NO INFO.. and then said ohh they are trying to offer a credit card.. but he has NO INFORMATION about it to tell me.. so wait until capital one calls me again.. TOTAL SCAM.. barely spoke English and after working in customer service myself before i know they way we acted and talked on the phone was not legit.. no customer service repre uses an talks the way he does.. if he is customer service.. couldn't he tell me everything about my act??.. humm.. Totally fake.. don't give out any info..
They called me..... Looked at it.... Ignored it..... Called again next day..... Ignored again..... Called again the next day..... Ignored it..... Decided to look up the number and here I am
I received a call from this number as well. I did not answer and they did not leave a voicemail. Glad I ran across this site!!!
they called me at 640 AM so i thought it was work related. I called back and it had the exact recording of capital one's automated voice system... I could not tell the difference. "Welcome to Capital one, please enter your sixteen digit card number" Thats really not cool. Spread the word!
Received a call from 800-955-7070. No message left. I called the number back and as many here have posted, it's an auto answered and asks for my 16-digit credit card number. I hung up.Checked my Cap One credit card and it's not scheduled to expire until 5/2010 so I doubt they're checking up to see if I've received any new cards.
