Received a call today 4-19-16 stating they were from the IRS. Wanted to verify my address for my protection. I told them if they called me and they are the IRS they have all my information already. I wouldn't speak to this individual that could hardly speak English.

Your very much misinformed. The IRS does make calls , we just do not demand payments or threaten legal actions.

You so mistaken its not funny, it's sad. We do place calls. When paid tax prepares don't supply what is required to resolve an issue.

Just got a call on my cell 801-605-1816, from Ogden, UT, didn't answer it, no message left. Two minutes later, another call with no caller id, didn't answer, and they left no message.

Now some moron has our bank of numbers that are centralized in Utah or Kansas, D'oh, areas that have Submission Processing Centers, and falsely claiming they are spoof numbers. IRS does place calls to Taxpayers when certain information is missing and the situation is imminent.

I dispute the notion that "The IRS never initiates a contact via phone." I left a message with an IRS unit for taxpayer assistance (help with filing; Qs about 529s/1099s) and the callback number did indeed show 801-605-1816. So in this case, it's legit. 2/27/17

Who is calling from this number?

The same number 801-605-1816 called me about every other week since Dec 2016. The lady claimed to Michelle Ferris that I was being audited. I was able to reach IRS directly at 800-829-1040. They told me this was an impersonator using an actual IRS employee name.

If you were a good tax accountant, you would know that they do make calls
