Yes, I did receive the same call on Saturday morning and I denied the survey. I have emailed office of Census Bureau in Illinois to verify if the call was genuine.

I received a voicemail and a phone number of 1-888-817-2153. When I called them back they said they were from the census bureau. They had my previous address. I told them we no longer lived there. When she asked for my current address, I refused to give it. I told her I had no way of verifying who they were. She said she was with the census bureau. I told her to prove it!!!. She hung up.

telemarketers pretending to be with the US government. Spammers, do not give them any information. They are also making fake posts on these boards to throw people off about them. The US government would only call from an "888" number -ONLY and your caller id would list as"US Census". Any thing else is a lie!

Also had voicemail from 888-817-2153, this evening, after hanging up several days ago on Census Bureau caller. For entertainment, strung out the call. Wanted to know my correct address, corresponding to phone #. Suspect that questions would have continued, and become more intrusive. Young lady offered website for verification purposes. Also gave 800-555-1212 as alternate phone #, which I believe is universal information number. She said that American public has been very cooperative.

The only thing "required" by the Constitution is a head count. You do not have to provide any other information, especially income and personal information like these people are asking....

These idiots are from what is called The American Community Survey. It is an Orwellian project dreamed up by a bunch of political hacks in the Commerce Department which runs the ten-year census. You do not have to answer their questions nor do you have to return their ridiculous "survey." Basically, each month they mail out 250,000-300,000 surveys to various addresses in the US and expect you to spend an hour answering such absurdities sush as how many toilets you have, how long it takes to get to work, how much is your annual income, etc. It sounds like they give the job of making the phone calls to a bunch of 8th grade dropouts, many of whom cannot speak English very well. They will actually threaten you with a fine for not answering their questions. Can you imagine? The government threatening to fine you for not answering questions? The absurdity of all this is obvious: much of the info they want is already on the web or they would not have your phone number!!!!! A proposal is currently before the US House to make the surveys only voluntary. I consider them purely voluntary right now and would laugh in the face of one of the hacks should he or she ever dare come to my home. Again, do not answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I received a call (female) on July 18th, 2007 from this number also stating they are from the Census Bureau. I did not answer the call as I did not recognize the number so they left a voice message to call them back and gave me a case number. No name of the caller or ext was left in the message. I have NOT and will NOT call them back. They have not called me back at this point.I got the multi-paged Census Bureau Survey and completed and mailed it back. I didn't feel good about getting it but it seemed to be a legal requirement and looked authenic as best I could tell. It had a phone number to call if questions but if it was a scam calling would not have helped answer my concerns. Has anyone gotten any further information about this number and found out if this is a scam???? Please advise!! Thank you! BNJ

Since June, these people have harrased me. I called my Township and they told me under NO cirmcumstances was I to complete this form since Census doesnt get sent out except once every ten years. Next Census is 2010 and last time I looked it is 2007. All my neighbors on both sides and across from me have not received one of these either....isnt this odd if its a Census?I gave these jerks the info above and they keep calling me every day and its now the end of July. If this is legit then our tax dollars are once again being wasted. I looked at the form they want completed and they ask ALOT of questions that DONT have anything to do with a Census. Such as: What time do you leave work in the morning and how many hours do you work. With this information anyone can know when your home and when your not. If anyone reads this please post what to do next since Im getting a phone call a day. Dont these people know about caller ID. Nobody is going to pick up,they even call me on Saturday and Sundays. Im going to have my number blocked by the phone company next week so this stops. Im also sending e-mails to my State representative and State Senator. I also will be calling the my local news station since I know the anchor and let them know about this. Im not letting these people harrass me any more!!!!!!!

i KEEP GETTING A CALL FROM SOME GUY 812-218-3144 SAYING HE WAS FROM THE CENSUS BUREAU I TOLD HIM UNLESS HE SHOWED UP WITH A WARRANT AND A SWAT TEAM TO QUIT CALLING AND LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE.
