(812)218-3144 called and left a message to call their (888)419-7886. I called the number and their automated voice prompt advised me to hit "Y" on my phone keypad for more information. I hung up, but was immediately text the following message from their company:"Reply Y now to find info on the # you are looking for. # Info Svc $9.99/month Msg&data rates may apply for 20 lookups/month. Support/Terms? www.numsvc.com"I appreciate your efforts on stopping these type of companies from continuing their guerilla-type marketing practices.
I got a voice mail form Census Bureau Yesterday. Let me call back this toll free number:1-888-419-7586, and said could reach them day and night. that got me a question, they (US GOV.) are working at night?? Now I concerned that I have completed the form. but don't know that form was real.
I received a call from this number claiming to be from the US Census Bureau and asking me to call reference a specific case number.
They called my phone asking to speak with my spouse. Since she wasn't with me at the time I told them they would have to call back. They called from 812-218-3144 and gave a 1-800-331-4706 call back number as well as a case number.
I got a phone call from this place this evening. He wanted to ask me about the forms he mailed out. The address he had was not mine. He did repeat my phone number to me and I did tell him that was correct. Then he wanted to know my address. I refused to give him any more informatation. I told him that I do not under any circumstances give out any personal information. He apologized and said he would remove my number from their call list. Does anyone know if this is legit or a scam?????
recieved a phone call stating it was cenus bureau.Wanted to verify our address. The one .they gave me didnt match our phone number .Ihungup.
Cause that's the extension they called from. The 800 number so that any operator can answer the call in case who ever called you is not at their desk or working that day or whatever. It's not rocket science people.
I have also received forms in the mail, November 2007, and December, 2007, stating it was the census bureau, and they pick out names randomly. I shredded all the papers. Last night, Saturday night, at 8:30 p.m. I could see on my caller I.D. it said census bureau. I purposely keep my answering machine off, and called I.D. catches them. If a person to so stupid to let the phone ring 10 times, and then the caller hears, "answering machine off." That idiot called right back, and let the phone ring 6 times.I am going to call my attorney genrals office in the morning, as I have been on the no call list for 5 years now. This is a scam and do not give out any information whatsoever.
I've had two calls from these clowns - both to my CELL PHONE, which, of course, is unlisted, and for which I pay for my minutes. I happened to have my cell phone on the second time I got called, so I actually spoke to this guy. When I tried to cut him off, he said, "Whoa, Baby, this is the US Census Bureau!" "Did you just call me 'Baby'?!?" He admitted he had - never apologized. He would not give me his name, he would not give me his supervisor's name, he had my address wrong (different city, never lived there), and he called me "Baby." When I pointed out those things to him and asked why I should think this was a legitimate call, he hung up.
