I got the note on my door in Tierrasanta yesterday. It looked possibly legit, however I was suspicious as no company name was listed on note and they wanted me to call them back (at 858-565-6312).

Got mine on my door today. Thank you folks for the posts. I am an old Rainbow Vac guy - we would never leave your dirt on the floor! : )I guess "no soliciting" posted in your neighborhood means "give away imaginary fruit" to these guys. : )

Same note on my door on Sunday in Ocean Beach (4 October 09).

Got one in Santee today (13 Oct 09). Obvious bait and switch scam. I have never seen so many scams out there. Just a sign on the times I guess.

Today I got the note about the fruit basket. It freaked me out because I was home at the time and heard them stick it in the door. Within seconds, I looked through the peep-hole...no one. There is no fruit...they didn't even knock or ring the bell to attempt a delivery. Had a similar scam with Kirby in the past. We nearly had to physically throw them out. NEVER let the Kirby people in...even if you agreed to free carpet cleaning or a fruit basket...if you open the door and see a Kirby box, DO NOT LET THEM IN unless you like losing 3-4 hours of frustrating time just getting them to leave!

They are in San Marcos now...92069 zip. got one on friday. thought maybe it was because something happened with my family recently. Called and after about 5 rings someone picked up and told me that they were a fruit basket company that was looking at starting a new store in our area so as a promotion were giving free fruit baskets away...annndddd..they would clean one room of carpet for free.?? Told him I had no carpet, he offered to clean a rug...said no and he said thanks and hung up.

Found this note in my mailbox. This is illegal and I have submitted a complaint to the US Postal Inspection Service for possible mail tampering.

They are now in Santee. A man walked up to my security screen door and placed a note in it. I said, "Hello" as he was walking away and he just kept going. Oddly, the note said, "FOR YOU A BEAUTIFUL FRUIT BASKET SORRY WE MISSED YOU". Ummm...I was right here...duh. Such a scam and not a very good one at that!

They were out in Escondido today. Glad we check the web before calling any number. It looked fishy in the first place.
