Man calling saying he was calling about my computer. When I asked, "what computer?" He said, "you don't know what computer, I'll tell you what computer, you idiot."
Call from Geek help desk. Someone finally responded to my 3 shout at hello. Barely speaks English. Hung up and placed on my blocked list.I am on the DNC list and get all kinds of weird calls now. DNC list is also a scam. Doesn't work.
Received a call from these guys on my cell phone today. I love having fun with them. They throw the whole my computer has a virus pitch and tell me they can fix it. Its funny how quickly they become upset when you tell them your computer caught the virus after fooling around with their mother's computer. Usually results in swearing, name calling and then a hangup.
I just got this call three days in a row and they want to fix my computer but however they don't know I have a Mac computer. Played along with them and when they want me to turn the computer on and give a credit card I said you can fool me I work at a computer store and we have to fix your screw ups you put on people computer so this is a scam don't do it at least I new about these calls
Indian sounding man said his name was Roy and was calling about my computer. I told him I didn't have one and he slammed the phone down.
A friend told me about this call she got just last weekend. After talking for several minutes, as she HAD had computer issues, she listened to him as he explained that he would help her. He took over her mouse and began "helping her on her computer". She realized something didn't appear right, it was probably a scam, and she shut off her computer. He asked her if she shut it off and she said yes. He then yelled at her to turn her computer BACK ON right now! She hung up and brought her computer to a local person to fix her issues. I JUST got the same story...that he noticed I've had several error issues and he would assist me. I asked where he was calling from. "Microsoft's Windows Tech Support". I replied, "I don't believe you" and hung up. Scam.
I received this call yesterday. It was an Indian sounding woman who told me that they had found a problem on my computer. I asked what company she works for, and she mumbled something I couldn't understand. I told her my husband is a computer engineer and he takes care of my computer. She implied he was not a very good one because they had detected a virus on my computer. I told her I know about the scams where they end up putting a virus on the computer and then charge to remove it. She got mad and said if you're not interested all you had to do was say so. I told her "I did tell you that and you kept trying to tell me my computer had a problem so I am not interested thank you".
We have the same just NOW! and they want to hook up with our computer. Good thing,we are not that stupid!
Received a call from 860-540-6999. Caller ID said Bristol, CT. I only answered because I have a client there. Woman with an Indian accent said she was from Geek Squad and their server had identified my computer has having errors. Wanted me to talk to their "Senior service rep". I took up her time for several minutes, sounding concerned and thankful she called. When I had had enough, I asked her how my unplugged computer had contacted them. Call ended then. ;-)
