Same for me , Indian accented man saying my computer had a virus, I asked him if it was my "Indows" one , didn't sound to happy lol.
Whenever I get a call like this from a mystery number I refuse it and google it. I almost always end up on this website. I've blocked the number, but I just want to say that I'm grateful for all the comments.
We just got the call on my cell. I acted surprised and shocked....OMG, which computer? He says the Dell. (don't have a dell, dude) What am I going to do? He says he has to call back tomorrow to give me all the instructions. I acted very concerned and told him I wanted to fix it immediately. Then my man took the phone and we both verbally hassassed him til he hung up:) Why you gotta call back tomorrow? We don't even own a Dell? Why you scamming people? He hung up on us:(
Got a call from this number, she said my computer was disconnected (by them) from a network due to the network being hacked. She asked me to do some stuff on the computer. I asked what network it was, to which the Indian woman got rly angry and we got into a fight and then she stopped answering me, so I hung up. Scam.
The do not call (dnc) registry is money down the toilet. These people called my cell ... now have blocked them!
If you had downloaded the "update", that update (called malware) would have screwed your computer up. Then he will offer to remove the "update" and return your computer to pristine condition, but for a hefty price (usually around US$375). If you don't pay it, your computer will be unusable. If you do pay, he will attempt to remove the malware, but some problems will remain that you'll never be able to fix. Definitely do not fall for this common scam.
Had a call from someone who did not know the English language very well tried to tell me that he was from the computer department. I could smell the Pita and Humus on his breath through the phone. I told him that Allah was going to be very angry with him and he hung up.
