I have also got to the point of reporting them for harassment. now I have their address I will put my request in writing for my number to be taken off their list, since I have no idea who they are looking for, but they dont seem to be able to get that into their head.Plus when they go to the extent of calling a person a liar - I think that IS harassment
Collectors using the rude/aggressive modus, or the reasonable/psychological approach.Well, a weak attempt at psychology anyway.Cupcake, people don't post here for the reasons you attempt to get over. They share information for the purpose of helping and protecting themselves and others from the nuisances of the world. If bill collectors played by the rules there wouldn't be any need for this forum. Stop making a [***] out of yourself and people will stop bashing you.
Ok - letter sent to them.now for info on what you can do to report them: When should I act on it?If the calls are repeated or you believe that you are at a risk of physical harm, you should act.The police and local phone company will generally not take action unless the calls are repeated or if a call specifically threatens you or your family with bodily harm. What should I do?Write down the following, immediately - you may forget, if you wait:Time and date of the call(s). (keep a log)Gender of the callerDescribe the caller's voiceWhat did the caller say?Age of the caller (how old did he/she sound? )Did the caller seem intoxicated?Tone / Voice: accent or speech impediment? Was there any background noise? Was a phone number/name displayed on your Caller ID?How do I stop the calls? In most cases, you will want to file a police report first. In some cases a local phone company will block the caller based solely upon your request, but it is still better to file a police report first.
You are obviously a bill collector! Get a real Job, will ya?From my previous post, it should be obvious that we are not all deadbeats and that we all owe money. Maybe I should start harassing YOU about the debts of others and see how long it takes before you get pissed off.
collection agencies have a job to do. In some cases they "buy" the debt and make it theirs. Other cases they try repeatadly to get you to pay the company what you owe them. A $25 debt would never be something they would even bother pursuing by taking you to court but high debts are worth going to court over. It takes time (a lot of) to go to small claims court. It's a matter of how much money they will make by pursuing this debt. Like the tax man; no one likes them but they are doing their jobs. Bankruptcy is an option but those rules have been changed a couple of years back and it could be hard. I; for one, owe a great debt to CTC and whether they bought the debt from CTC or are collecting a percentage by harrassing me to pay the bill is irrelevant. It's my debt and they will work with you to make the payments easier. They are rude and they do harrass but it is not illegal. It's my debt and I should pay it.
Called and look for Michael Robarb or something. I don't even know this guy, and they just keep on calling eventhough they know this is my phone, and i've told them 100+ times that i don't know who the [***] that guy is. I'm gonna file a criminal harrassment report if they dare call again.

Okay, I'm a MJR Victim too. I've been reading all these comments and i'm suprised that there's alot of people who are attack by these MJR Collection agency callers. I know it's hard to pay off your debt. Because i'm going through it right now also. I'm a student. it's hard to work and go to school at the same time. For myself, paying off my debt is almost there. it's just these MJR callers. They sure do know how to threaten and scare people off with their violence voices trying to convience to pay off your debt! The First time i recieved the phone from them. I got so nervous by the phone call. When i heard the collector spoke to me, i realized that they're using some high harrasment words towards me. And i honestly got scared by them and i also, got a letter from them too. They try to threaten me to pay them in 3 days. I felt like my life was over! I didn't know what to do. but try to find a job during school time. but i came up with a solution. I contacted a debt helper. and i asked some questions about them and answer my question with some good loving loleven though i may have some bad credit. But i won't able to buy a house until when im 40! lol. But! i do try my best to get the money to pay the debt off. However, I'm suprised that they don't have the licsinsed to collect debt in Canada. Even though how hard to try to threaten to get it from you. They won't able too! unless you have a home or a high valve of assest to use a jugdetment towards you. Rather then that. MJR are full of people who on a commission trying to get money from you! I mean if you feel like you got no place to go for help? Trust me! There's many resources that can help you with this painful problem. So, Don't give up! Everybody has money problems! So, remember... Stay postive and be strong!
I understand that these folk have a job to do and why they do it however when they start harrassing people, that is where we should draw the line. I'm being harassed because of SOMEONE ELSE'S debt, not my own as I have moved and just happened to get that number. I have explained to the person on the phone when I get a live person (sometimes an automated voice) that this is the case and it doesn't seem to matter. Threatening to contact the CRTC doesn' t even work. How is this fair?
Is your name Jason Rice? You certainly sound as if there's a close connection between the two of you if not. Regardless, perhaps you should do something more productive with your life such as scraping dead animals off the highway - or perhaps just standing out in front of a moving car so that we can keep our medical staff trained.
