You think the economy is in such rough shape because of people not paying their bills? Wow, you need a class in economics! Teeheehee! Maybe if you folks (the collectors) were a little nicer and followed the FDCPA, yes, even with those people who avoid your calls, you'd get a better response out of people. Stop taking it so personal when someone doesn't call you back that you have to start verbally abusing them! It says absolutely NOTHING in the FDCPA that you can lie and use threats if someone refuses to answer your call. My father always taught me to get respect you have to earn it. And you are certainly not going to get mine if you call threatening me with fake warrants. I'm quite sure, just by how uneducated and illiterate these posts sound, that I am FAR more intelligent than any of you, and you cannot fool me. Oh, and I want to add, I am debt-free (and, by debt-free I mean I owe no one anything, not even current accounts) as of January 2011. You can bet I paid off the agencies that treated me decently before the ones that didn't. So, if you think I am just one of those "lying, cheating debtors", you are absolutely wrong! I'm just someone that believes that you get back what you put out there and that every situation is different. You can't throw every single person who owes money into the same heap. Everybody's story is different.
OMG, WHAT does being an "athlete on a lacrosse team" have to do with anything? That's like a man in a bar hitting on you and telling you his yearly income. Do you think that impresses anyone? And, for the record, if these poor defenseless debt collectors are so stressed, why don't they find something else to do? Oh, that's right, because they are probably not well educated and cannot find another type of employment. Although, I will admit, from past experience, that a lot of people that owe money seem to get abusive even when a debt collector is acting decent but, they should try to rise above and not sink to the level of the abuser. I believe that would be the professional way to go. The best way to [***] someone attacking you like that is to remain calm and professional; trust me, it will aggravate the crap out the attacker. Seriously, think about it, when someone cuts you off on the highway and you flip them the bird, and they smile and wave; doesn't that make you more angry? On the subject of lying and having to perform skiptraces; how about when a debt collector refuses to give you his/her identity and you have to locate THEM to find out if they are legit? Just happened to me a couple of weeks ago; I had some fake debt collector call with the threats etc.; come to find out they are not a real collection agency, just a bunch of jerks trying to extort money from people. The debt I supposedly had was from a payday loan company that doesn't even offer loans in my state. There is nothing wrong with trying to legitimize a company before giving them your money. Yeah, enough said...
The origiginal creditor, decided enough was enough when you would'nt pay in the first place and decided to sell the account because you would'nt pay them and got some of their money back because you, debtor, took their money and never paid it back,si the bottom feeder now owns the account and it is your turn to man up and pay the debt to the collection agency that owns the acct. How [***] stupid are you?
Gee, Dr. Juan, you accuse "aaa" of "assuming much" about debt collectors, but reading your posts, you seem to assume that all debtors are deadbeats. The meaning of the word debtor is "an entity or person that owes a debt to someone else". Wouldn't that be any person carrying a balance on a credit card or a mortgage or even a car payment? I'm pretty sure that statement is true. However, the way you write, sounds like you are calling anyone who owes money a "scumbag debtor". (perhaps English is your second language?) Or, is that term solely to be used for only those who can't afford to pay back what they owe? I am not in arrears for anything but, let me tell you, if I was, you can be sure that I would find my rent/mortgage and feeding my children far more important than paying back Mastercard. Somehow, staying alive and sheltered seem more important to me than lining the pockets of some fat-cat CEO of a multi-billion dollar corporation. So, I believe, that if someone can only afford $20 a month; isn't that better than nothing? At least they are showing you that they are willing to take care of it with what little they have. I don't know, maybe I just have more compassion for other people than some people do. Oh well...
Or you could just contact them to make sure you actually owe money. The problem with this company is that when you ask for proof from them, they refuse to give it to you.
The amount changes because you probably are still being charged interest,DUH!What are you retarded or what?Quit your whining, you know what bills you made and you dont need proof,as that is merely just a stall to not pay.I am an athlete for a lacrosse team and i want the economy to get better and it seems that because you owe money that you dont want to pay and you obviously dont care about you credit being bad.I am sure that this company is very ligitimate as in this day and age that debts are sold and purchased just as mortgages are.Its high time that debtors like yourself grow the [***] up and take some damn responsibility and pay up.Debt collectors have jobs that they need to do and im quite sure have quotas to fill and when they get cussed out, verbally abused, barely get any return calls, probably have to skiptrace just to locate your sorry [***] and then get told that they need to send proof amoung all the other lies and excuses, its a wonder they can trust their friends and families.Perhaps if you sat for one day at their desk and saw how stressful it is them maybe you would understand what these folks go thru on a daily basis.Having quotas to meet and being lied to all day.I have a girlfriend that does this and i know what its like. The bottom line here is just stop the excuses, pony up and just pay, doesnt matter who owns the debt, just pay as you borrowed the money with intentions of repaying so just do it and stop making the collectors the bad folks, its not an easy job
My wife received a call from "Mike Oppenheimer" at Weinerman and Associates llc at her place of business. The man was rude and threatened her because her deadbeat ex-husband has rung up several thousands in debt. He had her in tears. She is in no way linked to the debt, but the man lied to her and tried to intimidate her. She gave him her ex's new phone number and address but as soon as he hung up with her at work, he called our house. When I called the number back (from caller ID) they said he had just "stepped out". The total lack of conscience of the soulless slime balls to harass totally innocent people is deplorable. They should be number 2 on the governments list behind terrorists.
Unfortunately for you, she is involved... and perhaps you could now be involved as well. If you create debt you are responsible for debt.Do yourself a favor and pay the bill and quit complaining about other people doing their job. With age comes responsibility, I would assume you are old enough to be responsible.
This number keeps appearing on my Caller ID numerous times each and every day and there is never a message left. I had to make a long-distance phone call to find out what was so important for whoever keeps calling but never leaving a message. There will be further communications concerning this company and how they are handling their business.
