Either people are going to pay or not... pretty simple, if they don't have the money, they aren't. It was/is pretty irresponsible of agencies to give people tons and tons of credit only feeding into the fact they might not be that responsible with money. What's the point of getting mad at someone who is either broke or just not good with money. You should know WHO you are loaning money too and actually do it responsibly. I personally don't have any debts but find these stories from people quite interesting. Credit is a scam except in very few circumstances where it is necessary... which is almost never. People are lulled into a false sense of security when it comes to credit... they see it as 'magic money' and suddenly they fall in the debt trap and have no idea what happened. It would be nice if people were properly taught in school about credit so they would be able to avoid situations like this. Hell, when I was young my mom wasn't that great with money, or really seemed to have trouble acquiring it. She tried to be reasonable and work with the people she actually owed money too, but when people are selling debts to third parties who want to mark the price of what they got for much less and harass people it's no good for anyone, the business included. If companies want 'their' money that is one thing, but debt should not be treated like a commodity, nor should credit be so widely accepted as the norm. I learned a lot from my mom's lack of financial understanding and I've been pretty damn careful to avoid the pitfalls she didn't realize she was falling into. Well... that's my two cents on it. People just want to live their lives... who can blame them?

Before you express your opinion, please educate yourself or at least use spell check. Debt collectors are losers who can't find a better job.....

This business is a debt collector. I spoke with Mike Oppenheimer and he helped me make AFFORDABLE arrangements to pay off my debt, yes it is my debt and I am fully aware of the debt. I also double checked all account numbers given to me by them and again, it is my debt.Although we did have a good laugh about the caller ID... WeinerMan and A$$... lol

Responsible persons pay their bills and criminal,irresponsible debtors run away from their obligations,have their illegetimate kids screen their calls and do everything but make arrangements.Why the economy is in the tanks,DUH

There are people who have criminal minds that want to whine and [***] about everything and not step up and repay said borrowed funds.I say borrowed and not plundered because in this country,we have a distinct set of double standards.I f you shoplift you suffer legal repercussions,conversely if you borrow and don't pay then you are subject to judgments and lawsuits depending on the size of said loan.On the moral and ethical side,when you sign your name to a legally binding contract and don't follow that then you are in breach of said contract and exposed to a set of remedies the law says may happen if you don't comply.Now why on earth would you tell people to pay other bills first,that totally goes against the grain and accuses a profession that is entrusted to recover funds as sleazy? It is a totally needed profession and one that if wasn't around would cause the cost of consumable good to skyrocket.Debt collectors are a special breed and it is a very difficult career.To make the same calls that go unanswered day after day.Getting hung up on,being told i cant pay.I strongly suggest that for a week you come do what we do and you will see for your self and then perhaps you wouldn't be so quick to judge and put all debt collectors in the sleazy category.That's like saying that one race commits more crimes than another.And really,it's not your place to judge.Let the man upstairs do that.So please don't further your diatribe.Just acknowledge that my words of wisdom are correct.I digress.

I too fell to this collection agency practices. Further more I paid them $3000 to settle the debt and I know find out that they never reported the debt as being paid. I too went the look for his so called letter and could not find one. At this point I am writing them to show me proof of the debt and proof of my payments so I can get my credit report updated to reflect the payment history.
