JUST TO LET YOU KNOW...I HAD THE SAME PLACE CALL ME ON MY DAUGHTERS CELL PHONE...I CALLED THE SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICE AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD NEVER CALL AND ASK THAT KIND OF INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE AND THEY DO NOT USE THAT SERVICE TO VERIFY A HEARING. THEY SAID IT WAS MOST LIKELY A PHISHING SCAM...IF YOU GAVE YOUR INFO TO THEM YOU NEED TO CONTACT THE 3 CREDIT BUREAS AND THE FTC AND REPORT THIS IMMEDIATELY

just got the call. i called back...recording said the number was no longer in service. i think this was not a phone co recording. or they are using a device that clokes thier real number ( these devices ar avalible at spy web stores.

I too got a call from Eland Corp at 1-972-497-1400. It appeared on my caller ID. And, strangely enough I DO have an appointment with Social Security tomorrow.

I'd bet that it IS the legit number for the appt reminder service, BUT phishing outfits can send fake caller ID and could actually be calling from anywhere. If it's an appt reminder...don't worry about it. If they ask for your SSN...DON'T GIVE IT TO THEM!!!

I just missed a call from the same number. I Googled it, which led me to this page. And I DO have an interview with SS tomorrow. I believe it's legit. They didn't leave me a message, so I'll be sure to answer it if the same munber calls again. But regardless, you should never give out your SS # over the phone, unless you placed the call to SS.

Received a call from 972-497-1400 telling me "someone associated with this number has an appointment with Social Security tomorrow at an appointed time." The caller ID said "Texas." However, there is NO ONE associated with this number who has an appointment with Social Security. SS said they do not call to remind for an appointment (would send a letter but not a phone call) and that this was not a legitimate phone call from SS. Also called the FTC Fraud Hotline to report the call.

Received a call from this number reminding me of a hearing notice. I do NOT have any appointments with Social Security, have not been notified of any hearings, have not applied for Social Security. This is a SCAM PEOPLE.

Purposely did not answer the calls from this number as I didn't recognize it... First 2 today did not leave a message, the third one just now at 3pm was an automated message from the SS office reminding me of a phone appt I have scheduled tomorrow... WHICH I DON'T... and if I wanted to change that appt or cancel it to cal 1800-772-1213. I've never dealth with the SS office, I'm not calling, but out of curiosity I will answer if they call again to make sure that someone else isn't using my social security number. (I've had identity theft happen before on a minor scale and it sucks!)

I got the same call that reminded me of a SSI appointment that was coming up. No panic needed!

I agree with you. They called me to remind me of my appointment for Monday.
