This phone number called my house and said they were reminding me about an appointment with SS that I have never heard about and also said it was in a different state from which I live. Its a scammer for sure.
Received call on my cell phone. I don't answer unknown callers. Called this number back and got "You have reached a non working number". As for Social Security calling me on my cell phone, how and why they would call me is unexpected and probably spoofed. anyone answering this number BE CAREFULL!
Oh my God, people! I, like numerous others, received a legitimate call from the SSA from this number with a recorded message reminding me of an appointment the following day.For those of you who insist it's a scam, have you considered someone either gave a false phone number when they applied for SSA benefits OR someone in the bureaucracy made a typo when entering the phone number? Seriously, if you simply received an automated message reminding you of an appointment, IT IS NOT A SCAM! However, could someone spoof this number and then ask you questions to get personal information? Of course they could and in that case, it would be a scam. This number is used ONLY by the SSA for automated messages for appointment reminders. If you answered the phone and spoke with someone, then that is a scam.
got a call and cid read AMERICAN VOICE. did not answer because i never heard of them.
It was a recording from SS about my appt. There are cell phone apps that you or scammers can use to project another number on caller ID's when calling someone. So it could be possible everyone is right.
I got this phone number on my cellphone and it told me my appointment for disability benefits was coming up. I actually do have an appointment on the 13th to turn in the needed paperwork and finish my SS application. It isn't a scam, kindly play Chicken Little elsewhere.
Got a call about about getting additional help with rx drugs. Recorded msg said to fill out the form or call 800-772-1213 (SS number) for more assistance. Never asked for personal info or to hit any numbers for live person. Because the phone number is a true SS number and not one that would go to a scammer and there was no request for personal info, I feel it Is a legit call.
My call was a real call from Social Security confirming an appointment that I had . They called on a Friday and left a message and my appointment was on Monday morning . In my case it was a totally legitimate call
call is a RECORDED call which claims is from Social Security. It goes on to state that "due to recent medicare inquiry".....which I did not call....."further information is available from" an 800 number. Since it is a "972" number exchange; you can call it back using a call block feature by dialing "*67" and then the number if you want to check it out. By NO means am I going to be bothered nor am I going to call the 800 number (which you can't block your number from showing up) and once you call them..... according to the federal guidelines, "it is now an established business relationship" and they can call you as much as you want with offers, etc. My own number is on the "donotcall registry" and they somehow still call.
The call I received on this number was legit. It reminded me that if I hadn't filled out a Social Security form and sent it in that I should do so. (legitimate form that I recognized). It was an Automated reminder. NOW...this is not to suggest that this number could be NOT BE FAKED by someone attempting to look legit. (not that hard, I understand) BUT...I WOULD NEVER GIVE INFO TO ANYONE ASKING FOR SS NUMBER OR PERSONAL INFORMATION IF THEY CALLED ME. NEVER! Only give out your info when needed...and if YOU MAKE THE CALL and are sure that you are REALLY talking to the SS office. That's my advice.
