American Voice is a total scam. People saying it's legit either a) would buy a bridge in Brooklyn, or b) are the scammers themselves. Social Security does not have any dealings or contact with any business in the nation named American Voice. Don't believe me? Call them and ask them.
Got call on my cell phone today. Not legitimate. Recording said to call so they can get some medicare form filled out for me. I do not qualify for medicare...yet. Plus how did they get my cell phone #? I don't give that number out to very many people. The call came from Texas, I live in Maryland. My medicare office is in Baltimore, not Dallas.
I think those of you that are posting that this is a legitimate SS call, are probably working for the company making these phishing calls. There was no reason for me to get this call, I am not in Texas, don't have an appointment or any other issue and if you pick up the phone and don't say anything, there is no response. This is an auto-dialer that waits for your voice answer.
well we got this call yesterday but phone tray blocked it, I read the fight here on this number, yes we do have a SSDI HEARING tomorrow. Earlier yesterday we got a call from "Us. Govt Soc Sec", they left a message. Today we got another call from "Us> Govt Soc Sec" (same number as yesterday) to remind us of our appointment today. They had not heard of American Voice, meanwhile last night after seeing the number from Voice America I called the number back and got a message saying that the number is not in service which is a sure sign of spoofing. What I would suggest is anyone getting this call be very careful, if in some cases as stated here it just asks you to confirm your appointment I would still proceed with caution. I believe it is possible that it is a service for a reminder but from our experience I would highly doubt it, if you ignore the call nothing bad can happen, they wont cancel your appointment (note we have a hearing and everyone seems to think this is just for appointments). If they mention your social security number I highly suggest you do not confirm your appointment...ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION.Before people start attacking me and calling me names like some of the childish behavior in this thread let me state, I do not want to believe this is a fake and I want to believe it's legit. Otherwise somehow Social Security has been compromised and they may have our bank accounts as well. Still no govt agency will call and ask you for you soc and if they do use common sense. Ask them for their extension at a number you know to be valid and call them back. I do this with my banks, my credit cards and even my utilities because there are scam everywhere.
1-972-497-1400 is a scam phone number. Anyone who tells you it isn't, is in on the scam....*You were Warned*
I got a call from this number this morning. I saw the CallerID info said AMERICAN VOICE so I let it go to voicemail but when it seemed to take more than a few seconds for typical scammers to hang up, I picked up and caught part of the message. It reminded me that we have a court appearance this xxxday in Newark for Social Security Disability and we do. It requested that I press 1 to indicate that we got this message and then 1 to indicate that we will be attending, and said to be there 1/2 hour early.Given the 50/50 split between folks reporting scam and folks reporting legitimate reminder, I wonder if the scammers have spoofed the phone number to lend legitimacy to their call?
