Call your local FBI agency if your concerned otherwise avoid the calls or volunteering information.
I got a call from that number and it was a guy with a thick accent and he said something getting 90000 or something like that I said that I was under age and he said I can use it for trips vacations or anything that wasnt bad he said I was chosen because I pay my taxes on time but I dont have anything like it and it sound like I was being recorded.
Calls received from (202) 210-0054. I don't answer and they don't leave a message.
I just got this call on my cell phone at 5:30 CST. The lady had a thick accent and told me about the $9000(definitely reading from a script). I asked her how I was selected, she said the government just randomly selected me AND I don't have to pay taxes on it! HA!When she told me they would add it to my savings, checking or credit card within 45 minutes, I asked her to send it to me in the mail. She said the government does not use the mail! I told her it sounded like a scam for sure because the USA Government definitely uses the mail! She quickly hung up.
Received a call on my cell phone from a lady with a very thick accent and difficult to understand. Wanted to offer me a $9,000 grant from the US Government for being a loyal citizen, paying my bills on time, and not going into bankruptcy. She said the grant $$ will be placed into my bank account. I smelled scam all over, got really annoyed, and told her that I've never known the government to give away "free" grant money. She then proceeded to say I was breaking up and she couldn't hear me any more, then hung up. Needless to say, no return phone call.Beware, beware!!! I was not about to give out any personal info to an unknown, much less my bank account info for an alleged direct deposit into it. Beware, beware !!!
Got the same type call. Nice to know I was selected as one of a group of elite US Citizens entitled to the 9000. I let her go on as I was vastly amused - and when she asked for my checking account #, I asked her if she was insane and I was reporting the number to the FBI - but guessing from the # of statements on here, call is Voip based in some other country, so we are out of luck. I think it is just funny that a person who can barely speak english (and reading from a script) is supposed to be working for the Dept. of Commerce!
I got a call from this number a couple of days ago, and I gave them my ex-husbands bank account number. He called yesterday crying because someone drained his account. The bank is tracking it though, they didn't even use a secret account. Damn foreigners. Anyway, it was pretty funny to screw his cheating a** with this scam. The people doing this obviously don't realize how strict electronic and paper trails are these days.
I just received a call from the same number. Didn't answer because didn't recognize the number and believed it was tied to the number of a missed call earlier to my cell (201) 2839597.
I just got the same call!! Could barely understand what he was saying and when he got to the point of saying I could get a $9000 grant, pay no taxes and not pay the grant back, well needless to say I got off the phone quickly. My phone is also unlisted, on the do not call list, so how do they get our number. I never use the number he called on any paper work of any kind. If they are going to represent the US Govt. at least sound like you are from the US!
