Same problem: I was billed by AT&T for receipt of 10 text messages from this number received between 11:57a - 11:58a on 12/15/15. My bill also reflects 6 text messages on 12/17/15 from this same number time-stamped 1:14p - 1:17p. My phone was not turned on during either time period. I almost never text, so I have a Pay Per Use plan. So this cost me $3.20. Not a huge amount, but REALLY annoying. Thank you to all the other posters here for helping me understand what's going on. I'll call AT&T to complain.

I've seen the number on my wife's phone log as well. I also hope I can once again trust blindly :-/I will say that the number does show as in coming only and connected to a group text. We also have ATT

This number appeared on my husbands recent usage - 14 times on 11/24.

So I have a ? - my husband and I both received texts from this number on 11/23 - we don't know what this # is, but we both received texts from his psycho ex wife at the same time this # was listed on our call logs- I'm missing something - I think it might be some kind of way to group text from somewhere, but it still shows up under her name and # in our phones/call logs, but on our billed usage report from AT&T it shows up as this 288-256-4782 # and not coming from her. Now she's totally shady and everything too, so I'm wondering if it's a way to text, but track it from her end? Does this make sense to anyone? Otherwise I have NO IDEA what/how this is working!!??

As many of you, I too had similar suspicions regarding the texting activity from 288-256-4782. I was able to verify that the number comes up when there is a group message sent. There were messages my husband and I both received during Christmas time and on New Year’s day but only his bill showed this number. I was able to verify the day as well as exact time (since we both got the message). So everyone who is getting this and is worried, I can say with certainty that somehow this number appears during a group text. My husband’s carrier is AT&T (his bill shows this number) and mine is Verizon (I don’t show that number) even though we both were on the same group message.

No I just saw the bill

This # appeared in Place of MY # when I text my young son to come home on the itemized bill. Idk what happened or what he did, but 2x my # had 288-256-4782 instead of mine when he was Late. He says he never got my text... now I think he may have found a way to block my texts when he choses?

Tons of them, all incoming texts on our bill. Seem to all take place within a 2 minute span a couple times a day. They just started like 3 days ago. Anybody figure this out yet?

I've asked repeatedly for someone who got one of these texts to say what the text actually said, but no one has. Please somebody. What did the text from this number say? Thanks.
