Yes, they left message, I called my card's number (not the one they left) and they confirmed that they had called. Sure enough there was a charge (confirmed online) for a hotel 2000 miles away on my card. Card cancelled. {sigh}Remember that in January, 2006, MBNA merged with and into Bank of America. MBNA America Bank, National Association, (MBNA) then became a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of America. In June, 2006, MBNA changed its name to FIA Card Services, so your card may be serviced by BofA or FIA and you may not know it. Bottom line, if this number calls, call you own card number right away.
Who are all these people that say it is a legit call? I received two of these calls today, one on my cell phone one at home. Bank of America only has one of my numbers not both. Bank of America will never call you and request information. I called the number on the back of my card (not the one they left me on the voicemail) and of course after some hassle getting through to an actual person then getting to the actual fraud department they told me there was NO fraudulent activity on my account and that the actual call was a fraud just trying to get more information from me so they could use my credit and or debit card. Even if you don't believe what I am saying and many other people are saying on here... just don't call the number they give you, dig out your card or statement and call the number on there just to cover your backside.
If there is credit card fraud, sending a note in the mail would take WAY too long to do any good.
THIS # HAS to be legit. They called me this morning telling me someone had tried to transfer $1000 out of my account... i asked the guy to check from where had the last few logins onto my account came from (based on the IP address). he said maryland, where i was, then he said one from CAIRO (not where i was that morning). He placed a block on my account and told me to go into the bank the next morning and change everything. He never asked me to confirm a thing... So the entire day i have been trying to figure out how they got my G' DAMN information. As i write this, i am running a virus scan on my computer. And as i am reading these pages it occurs to me; I F'ckin gave it to them....i received an email a few days ago telling me i had to confirm changes i made to my acc. Because, by chance, i had made some changes to the account the week before i didn't think twice about it. It didn't occur to me that the email was sent to the wrong address(not the one registered to my BoA acc), nor did it occur to me that the website was not "secure"(no lockpad at the bottom of the page)... (i can go on)The page asked for allllllll of my information; login,pw,security question, SS#, EVERYTHING and i gave it all to those bustards.I am usually pretty good at spotting these types of emails and scams, but i guess it was late and the fact that i had actually recently made changes to my account did not help. so now i'm Screwed and have to start monitoring my credit ...DAMN!!!!!!!
I just received simultaneous calls from this number on my cell and my work phone (not sure how that's possible) - I did apply for a BoA credit card online yesterday and had to give both those numbers. They didn't leave a message - you would think if something was important enough to warrant a phone call, they'd leave a voicemail! We'll see if they call back.
Be Warned: This is a phishing call. I have contacted BOA and confirmed that these calls are NOT from them or any party on their behalf. The fraud department of BOA has be tracking these call and so is the FCC & the FBI. I was instructed by BOA to report the calls and detail to both FCC & FBI...which I have. I suggest you guys do the same. We need to help catch the thieves. The clue that is present in all phishing call: they ask you to confirm/give information. If BOA (or any other institution) calls YOU they will NOT ask for your info...they should already have it and not need to confirm anything. This is what all 3 (BOA, FCC, FBI) places as told me.
Got call on Caller ID. I called back and said to call 800 - 441 - 7048.I hopped on the net to check it. Then called boA and got representativenamed Maria, that said the number belongs to an account holder of theirs.I ask for further information and then ask after some resistance on her par to speakto a supervisor. She finally did and I repeated the questions to her.She said the numbers mentioned above are definitely NOT boA numbers and theywouldn't answer with or record bank card services. She asked if I would send this message to abuse@bankofamerica.comCase closed. I am unsure how people are connecting this number to boAas boA denied this being their number and inadvertantly reported the numberas being an account hold named Ms Allen.
Got a call from this number earlier today saying there were issues with someone who had my SSN, DOB & mother's maiden name trying to change the PIN & phone number my account was linked too. They correctly gave me the last 4 numbers on the card as well as the last time I used the account. The asked me for a new password to link the account too and gave me an Equifax number to call to put an alert out on my credit history. I called BoA to confirm this and the first thing they did was request the password I had just set up with the original call. They then confirmed everything that I had previously talked about. IS LEGITIMATE!!
This is a phone phishing scam – don’t be fooled, they have SOME information on you, then they offer up some false info, like OK Mr. Jones, your last 4 digits of your social are 1234, a typical, gullible person will correct them with the correct info – <<>>.I have been receiving multiple calls from 302-432-1500, which, when called back, refers to 800-441-7048 for the past week. They leave messages stating that they are reviewing the escalation of a short sale of our house, funny thing is, they refer to themselves as ‘Card Services’ which has nothing to do with mortgage services. The other humorous part is that, in every message they leave, they state that I have to call them back by the end of business, or the case will be closed – then they hang up without leaving a call back # – fine by me, then stop calling… but they continue to call. Also, the person calling, sounds like they had dropped out of elementary school. If you have doubts, call the number on your credit card or the provider of your mortgage and verify the status of your account. Then go ahead and block the number from your phone.
