Just got a new number (Switched to Vonage) When I answered there was a robot voice asking if I was XXX. I pushed the No Option. It then asked if I wanted them to hold while XXX came to the phone. I pushed the No Option, Then it asked If they had dialed the wrong number. I pushed the option for yes. It said that the number will be removed. Will see if this is the truth!
Bank of America NEVER calls their customers! This is not a Bank of America number.
Got the same call too from 1-302-731-1116, said my card had some unusual activity on it and to call 1-866-559-0025 and input a message code given to me on the voice mail. I checked the Alerts activity on the Bank of American website and did find that the 866 number is legit and it does also point to myfraudprotection.com.
Received call on a late Sunday evening and then again early Monday morning. I didn't answer either time, and no message was left. I called the number, and they answered 'card services.' Then the fast-talking woman asked for a card number or SSN. (Yeah, right! Give this to somebody called 'card services'?) Thanks to this site, I did call Bank of America (BA), who aknowledged that 302-731-1176 is their service (BA also has LLBean and other cards). The lady at BA said she'd request that their card service callers leave a number, at least the direct 800-number. So, in all, BA was calling to ask about a suspect charge. 302-731-1166 is BA.
I just got a call from this number and did not pick-up because I did not recognize it. I looked up the number on the internet and found this site, so I phoned the 800 number on the back of my card - The number WAS Bank of America trying to contact me about Fraud to my card. Appearently, most of their Fraud Depts are located in the 302 area code. It turns out that a company had tried to charge something to my card without my concent. My account is now closed - I am very greatful for this webpage! Call your bank back - it can only help.
Yep it's a legitimate Bank of America number but I didn't know that at the time and I was a little rude to the guy, now I feel bad about that.I didn't give him any info and called for myself. BOA caught the $2000 fraudulent transaction right away and declined it but Citi let $2100 go through and Sears (also Citi) let $3400 go through. Sheesh!
I received missed calls twice from this number. I tried to call back..Its engaged..Then I looked up in internet..I found this website..I will call my credit cards...
I missed a call from this number, which called me just as a merchant was telling me my account was on hold. They did not leave a message, and I did not pick up. Called the 800 number on the back of my card and resolved the problem. I had made some out-of-the-ordinary purchases and I guess that flagged my account. Glad I looked this up! Thanks guys.
I recieved numerous calls from this number which I ignored. Then I received and email from BOA, which made me think it might be for real. So I checked in here- glad I did. When I went to my BOA account online, I found a number of fraudulant charges. Still to be safe, I called the number on my card instead of the one they left on voice mail or email. They cancelled my card and will credit the charges- so make sure you call the number on your card and get it checked out. I am super impressed with BOA and their quick notification and persistance even with my paranoia - that ended up saving me from *$&^%* theives.
