Thanks for these comments! I had no idea who called me, I too live on the west coast & didn't answer their early morning call, they didn't leave a message & when I called them back a few hours later the onions number is busy constantly. Thanks to these posts I can just call BOFA and figure out what they want.
Well all of you are nitwits I do not have a BOA card never had it and never will have a card with one of the large gouge my [***] banks. So this is fraud and if the [***] call me again I will report them to the authorities so whoever the [***] is calling me from 3027311166 stop the [***] and leave me alone.
It's legitimate.....I got a call and an e-mail. But, I did not call back the number listed on my caller id or the e-mail. I called the customer service # on the back of my card and spoke to BoA directly. They told me I had a fraud block on my CC. Apparently a cell phone company in Great Britain attempted to put a "test" charge of $1 through. If the test had gone unnoticed they would have probably hit me up for a larger amount in the future. CALL THE CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got a call from 302-731-1166 this morning, but didn't answer. They left no message. In the past I have had calls regarding my MC and if I didn't answer, there was a message left on my machine. I looked it up and it appears there is a mix of whether or not this is legitimate. I callled the 800 number on the back of my card and was told that the 1166 number is not MC's and they would put a note on my file that whoever is at the 1166 number is a fraud. Watch out folks, these people are scum.
WRONG!!! IT IS NOT FROM BOA! 302-731-1166 IS AN INVALID BoA NUMBER. DON'T CALL 302-731-1166. Report it to BoA. BoA would not call you from this number. There may be a scam going on, but this number is the problem, not the solution.
I got the call too. Missed it though. Thank goodness i checked my online account asap. Saw some unauthorized charges worth $300+ and it's only been 1 week! BOA customer service is great though - helped me call Mcafee to check the purchase. I even got the name of the credit card frauder - Veronica Miller. I suspect it's a fake name...Mcafee license plus 5 extra licenses, a purchase from dreamhost.com as well as a credit report... how devious! I hope karma catches up with these credit card frauders.Thank goodness for BOA's prompt action. Disputed the charges for me right away.
Hard to tell from all these posts if anything is legit!! I wouldn't trust giving any information to a number identified as "Card Services"!! Even if it is a service of B of A, they don't have YOUR back-----------they have their own! They want to make sure they don't pay a fraud charge which you then can dispute! B of A would be out the money, not you!! Be sure to check your statements every month!I just called the number and it seems to be legit, but there was no fraud on my card. I think it's annoying!
Yes, from Bank of America fraud detection. If you bank online can just log on to their website, check your Alerts, and follow the instructions to clear the fraud alerts and happy shopping. Otherwise, you can call the number on the back of your card and clear it that way.
Got a call from this number today. No message was left. However, I also received an email from BoA stating fraudulent activity was detected and my card was "frozen". Tried the BoA web site, but ended up having to call them. No fraud on my account, but for some reason an online purchase from the Justice Web site (clothes store for girls) triggered their fraud system. They state this is for my protection, but really it is for their protection (our liability is limited to $50 max). I'm really getting tired of BoA's self-serving protection. I have 2x in the past had my card canceled and a new one issued because THEY (or the VISA system) had a compromise. This is a major pain when you have auto payments setup from your card. It is even more insulting when they include a pamphlet on protecting your credit identity - when it was their issue in the first place.
