This is an automated call (interactive voice mail) from the fraud detection department of Bank of America. They were calling to verify recent activity on my account.
This is BoA graud dep. I called 800 number and they did confirm that there ws a call placed to me to find out a charge. You can do the same - call number on the back of your card and as them to transfer to fraud.
I got a call from this number and ignored it waiting to see if they left a message. No message and I didn't know the number or area code so I turned to Google and here we are. First off it is Bank of America and I wouldn't advise calling the number back. Instead call the number on your billing statement or on the back of your card. I did this and after spending a fair amount of time on hold I was connected with an operator. After exchanging information she informed me that someone had purchased a $500 airline ticket on my account. Since I only use this account to pay monthly bills and pay them off for a revolving balance this came up in the banks system as an unusual purchase and they denied the charge. I'm glad I called them to confirm but at least they gave me a heads up so I knew what was going on. Good luck and be patient. The hold time was pretty lengthy but I feel better now knowing they handled it for me. Thanks B of A.
Same as the rest of the calls here stating BofA was trying to call regarding fraudulant activityjust call the bank yourself
EARLY THIS MORNING I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER SUGGESTING SOME UNUSUAL TYPE ACTIVITY ON ONE OF MY CREDIT CARDS. DID NOT SAY WHICH ONE. THEN ASKING TO VERIFY MY NAME BY PRESSING 1; OR DENY IT BY PRESSING 2. I PRESSED 1 AND THE CALL WENT AWAY. SHOULD I BE CONCERNED?
This number is definitely legit! It is the BOA Fraud Department. I called the 800 number on the back of my card and as luck would have it - someone made a charge on my acct yesterday in England!!!Acct was cancelled and a new card will be forthcoming in a few days. Take my advice, if they call - they do not leave messages - CALL the 800 number on the back of the card and they will take care of this for you. They are on top of these things! Better be safe than sorry and AGAIN., its your credit that is being played with! So glad I called!!!!!!!
Here's your answer Donna. Who were you talking to on the phone? Do you have any idea? Who they say they are & who they really are are two different things. The caller now has confirmed that the number is live & they have a name to go with the number. Any time you get a robocall - hang up! Press NO numbers. If you suspect there is a problem with your Bank account, credit card, utility - call them from the phone book, back of card, statement. Don't give out information on a call you did not make & are not sure who you are talking to.
This was a legitimate call from Bank of America. I had updated the mailing address on my card the previous day. The message they left me was to confirm that the address change had been completed.
I just got a call from this number within minutes after an order I was trying to place on-line was not accepted. I knew my card was current but checked my on-line account and saw nothing weird. Called BoA customer service and after going through the automated system and entering my card number a rep immediately picked up and asked me my full card number (which they never do). Then they verified my address but I could tell he was looking up other info and I suspected that they blocked my card thinking fraudulent charges were trying to be made - I was trying to order an $800 item. The rep then asked me about any recurring charges I had going to my card and that was when I realized they were making sure that I was the true cardholder. After I verified more info that is when he told me they thought that someone was trying to make fraudulent charges to my card since the purchase was out of the norm for me. BoA reactivated my card and I was able to finish my purchase. I am truly appreciative that they are watching my card like that, just glad it I didn't get held up like that making a store purchase. Now back to the 302 number, I didn't answer the call becuase I did not recognize the number, but I suspected it was BoA and googled the number that called me and came to this site. Seeing this thread verified to me that the 302 number is BoA's fraud dept. Like most smart people, if I had answered the call I would not have given out my card info, etc., I would have told the caller that I would call BoA directly. And even knowing that this number is legitimate, I still would feel better just calling BoA directly. But just know that if you get a call from this number and you have a BoA card, go ahead and call BoA, I guareentee something is going on with your card.
