Bank of America Fraud Department. Called 3 times and left message on the third call (within 3 hours). I ended up calling the card number on back of my credit card, and before asking, they already new why I why calling. Verified the last few charges were mine, and they took the fraud alert off. I had been making lots of online purchases for the holiday and they just wanted to check since it was high frequency of purchases. CALL the number on the back of your card, don't give info if they call you and you pick up.
I received a call from this number 302-731-1166 early today, but missed it. No voice message was left. Then I got a Fraud Alert via email from Bank of America in the afternoon. When I called BofA, I had 6 frauduent charges posted today from various businesses in Mexico, needless to say I live in the US and I am not visiting Mexico as we speak. BofA canceled my credit card and will reverse the charges totaling over $1,500 (charges ranged from $16 to $600). Then this evening, no more than one hour after shutting down my account, I received another call from the same number. I did not answer the call as did not know anyone from that area code, so I looked it up online, which lead me to this website. It is FRAUD! I know better than to give any personal information (SSN, DOB, Passwords) out over the phone. But please BEWARE.
This is a fraud. I read the various comments and decided to call the back of my card and Bank of America has NO alert on my card and no fraud charges have been reported. When you try to call the number back it is busy. I reported the number to the bank of america fraud department and they will be investigating.
the slime bags are at it again. do not answer the phone if this number appears. do not give any info to anyone at this number or to anyone that calls requesting personal info. Call the bank or Credit Card directly and report these useless people that have nothing better to do than steal.
This is a legit call. I never answered the phone. But after receiving 4 calls from this number, I went to this website to find out who it was. I then checked my BOA Credit Card Account online, and found that my account was temporarily closed due to suspected fraudulent activity. I had just activated the card and went on a little Christmas shopping spree; I guess the charges were suspicious. In any event, all I had to do was log into my Online Account, answer my security questions, and confirm the charges. It is nice to know that BOA is looking out for its customers. I read many posts saying this number is a fraud; it is NOT. Even if you don't believe us, (I don’t blame you, you can never be too sure these days) just call BOA or visit your online account management it will confirm the legitimacy of the call.
I had 6 frauduently charges on my credit card with Bank of America from Mexico on 1/9/12. I got several calls that day from 302-731-1166. After being notified by BofA via email in the afternoon and shutting down my credit card account with BofA on 1/9/12, I still continue to get calls from 302-731-1166. BofA has assured me that this is NOT a number associated with them. If their Fraud Dept was to call the number linked to my account, they would not ask personal information (SSN, DOB, Pin #) and if they didn't reach me they would leave a detailed message. BofA has again assured me they didn't contact from this number, that my fraudulent charges are being reversed, and a new credit card is being issued. Please BEWARE! This is a phishing scam!
302-731-1166 is a scam. Researched the number and went directly to Bank of America and this is not a legit# Thanks for all the back and forth post! That proved this was all one big FRAUD!!! Oh and the fact that I DO NOT nor EVER HAD a Bank of America acct. However it was fun to play these SCAMMERS at their own game!!!
If you get a call from this number and you are a B of A card holder, call the number on the back of your card. I did not answer when this number called, but when I called B of A, there had been fraudulent charges ($300+ at some department store in NYC).The repeated posts stating "FRAUD ALERT" must be being made automatically by some scammer who is trying to thwart B of A's fraud protection.
There may be fraud attempts using this number however it is Bof A's fraud department number also. Do not give an answer to the caller, instead contact BofA using a number on your card or go to their website
Get a call from these a-holes twice this morning. Didn't pick up because I never answer calls I don't recognize (especially if they don't leave a voicemail the first time) and I especially never answer calls from out of state I don't recognize because it's always a scam.Anyways, I looked up the number and confirmed my suspicions that it was a scam call. Interestingly enough, when I checked my BoA account, it had been closed because of suspicious fraudulent charges. The number for the fraudulent number ON THE ACTUAL BoA website does not match the number that called me. My guess is these jerk offs steal your card and make a lot of suspicious purchases making BoA instantly close your account because of their security settings. So just in case you are suspicious enough to check your account after they called you, you will see your account is closed and think the call is actually from Bank of America.SPOILER ALERT: IT NEVER IS. It never will be. A company will NEVER ever contact you for your personal information. DO NOT GIVE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION TO AN INCOMING CALL/EMAIL EVER.I also love how they called me on [***] Martin Luther King Jr. day so all the banks are closed. It's also another red flag.Don't listen to the other posts on this site claiming the number is legit. I have nothing to gain but they have everything to lose if you listen to the people claiming it's a scam. Only ever give out information after directly calling the company's line listed on your card.
