This was ligit. Someone tried to make several purchases out of the Country. BOA fraud department recognized it and stopped it. They have cancelled my card. Thanks to BOA
It seems to be an automatically generated call from Bank of America`s card services. I called 1-800-427-2449 to verify. There had been fraudulent activities in my credit card account.
I just recieved a call a few minutes ago from 302-731-1166. The caller ID showed as "Card Services". It was an automated call from the fraud department of Bank of America checking up on the recent activities on my account. The system asked for EITHER the last 4 digits of my social security number (not the whole thing) OR my postal zip code (not both), I was NOT asked for any part of my account number. The last 3 purchases I had made were then played back for me and I was to press "1" to verify that I had indeed made those purchases. Then I called the 1-800 phone number that comes on the B of A billing statement and verified that it was in fact B of A who called me, and it was. I pay for this fraud protection service, and it looks like I am getting it. From what I can tell from this one experience, this looks legitimate, as long as we're careful about what info we give to those who call us.
i rec'd a call from 302-731-1166 telling me there may be fraudulent activity, they declined a scan made in michighan for $283.00. im from alaska. i called my husband in idaho and he didnt make any purchases. i got online to look up BOA customer service # it was different- but i got the same info and closed my card.. a new one is being issued. BOA verified with my approval the last few transactions. i feel confident that BOA took care of this, but when i gave them the above ph # they said it usually is a 800# ????
Yep! It's legit. I called the Member Services number on the back of my card and told them I got a call from this number but did not answer it thinking it was some kind if a scam. I found out someone tried to use my credit card number to purchase a $25 phone card. I canceled the card and will not have any charges due to the dilligence of the folks at B of A!
Received a call from 302-731-1166 didn't recognize it, didn't answer.Googled, came to this site and called the 800 number on the back of my card. Turns out that there were fraudulent charges on my account. If you get a call from this number be safe and call the number on your card!
Sound like same scenario as most of the posts for this phone number. recieved two missed calls on my cell. Number didn't look familiar, didn't want to use up any cell minutes to return call. Pulled up this mornings emails and got an alert from BoA "Irregular Credit Card Activity". Called BoA directly (number on my statement) and found out most recent charges were $67 and $1 for a telecommunications credit card to be activated from Turkey. Reported to supervisor (first guy I spoke to wasn't too with it), closed the account and she offered, since it's the holiday season, to overnight new cards for hubbie and I as long as there is someone to sign for package. FedEx is going to be BUSY tomorrow!
I do not have a BofA card, and I don't want any and if these phone terrorists call me again in the early morning hours, disturbing my sick kid, I will report them for child abuse. Since they are PHONE TERRORISTS, I wish for a Corporate Gitmo where someone would waterboard them until they ALL GO AWAY/ JUST GO AWAY, STOP BOTHERING ME OR I WILL COME AFTER YOU AT YOUR CORPORATE H/Q A$$HOLES.
all lies.....I got a call from this number twice now with no message left...I called my bank and all is fine with my account AND debit card........thieving deceitful people need to spend more time fining an honest living rather than scamming hard working honest people out of their kids grocery money ...disgusting!!!
