Just had a missed call from this number. Read these posts, checked credit card, sure enough, 3 fraudulent charges. Called Bank of America, they shut my account down. Wouldn't mind much but just had to go through notifying all the automatic recurring charges back in November... kind of a pain. And now I have to switch to another card until I get my replacement. FYI - Bank of America rep told me they have a "Shop Safe" on their website, that gives you fake info to type for online purchases but they still charge your account. Haven't used it yet, but check it out.

I got a call from this number tonight. A machine voice asked for me and indicated fraud. I hung up. I called the number on the back of my card to discover there was a small charge today I didn't recognize. The customer service person said there were no fraudulent charges on my account, but I explained that today's charge is fraud, so he gave me the number for the fraud department. I hadn't used the card in a while, so I was happy that B of A flagged it.

clarification after reading the 12-16 post -- Maybe B of A didn't flag it, but the call from this number got my attention. The right thing to do, like everyone else has said, is call the number on the back of your card

I just check with Bank of America and they said it's not their #. B of A's # to call to report it is 800-622-8731.

I have been called on several occasions by Bank of America. Todays call alerted me to a fraudulent transaction.Last year B of A alerted me to the start of a series of fraudulent credit card applications after my identity was stolen by an employee at a Fortune 500 company where I worked just 2 weeks.Reading these post I will be careful to respond to the 800 number on the back of the card.I really have to ask which side is "Bank of America never calls" on.

You are wrong, the number is valid (302-731-1166) if you do not believe this call 800-472-7970 to verify. People should write what they know about and not guess, it only miss-leads everybody looking for answers and help.

Checked again - it's real. Fraudulent charges on my cc.

Mine was legit as well. I just called bank of america and there was someone that was using my card number.

It is a legitimate number. When I first saw it on my caller ID, I was suspicious so I called the number on the back of my credit card and found out it was a legitimate number. Turns out a merchant tried to use an expired temporary card number and that automatically triggers an alert which also appeared in my e-mail inbox. Always call numbers you know are legit. Better to be safe than sorry.

received a call on 1/30/2012 at 8:57PM from this number but didn't recognize the area code nor the number so didn't answer and no message was left
