Even if it's BofA, they should still be treated as scammers.Bank of America liable for Countrywide mortgage fraudwww.reuters.com/article/2013/10/23/us-bankofa ... E99M14B20131023
Female voice calls exactly my name and she needs to confirm my four digit social security for about a gift card of Band of America. I cancel the call because I am worry about identity theft.
To my surprise, 315-724-4022 *IS* on the back of my BOA ATM card. It says "From Outside the US call collect at 315.724.4022" Why this number would be calling me is beyond my comprehension, however. I'm inside the US, as are all my purchases. I'll wait to see if my account really gets frozen to decide if it's legit. I don't see anything on my account online and I'm not getting emails from BOA, though.
OK, in my case at least, it turned out to be legit.I did have an email from BOA, and checking my account online there's a section for alerts, which had a notification that matched the email and the phone call. The email and the alert had a phone number different from the ones on the card that goes through an automated thing that has you verify three recent charges.Turns out that thesimsresource.com is in Sweden, so that pinged on the bank's radar when most of my purchases are at the Subway in Walmart across the street.Keep your skeptic caps on, but don't jump to conclusions, either. Check on all fronts before making a move.
received a call from this number (left a VM) saying there was fraudulent activity with my BofA account. Called BofA and they said nothing was wrong. Sounds like a scam...
DO NOT CALL OR RESPOND TO THIS NUMBER.. IT IS FAKE.. IT IS A SCAM... DO NOT LISTEN TO THE POSTINGS THAT SAY IT IS COOL.. THEY ARE PART OF THE SCAM.. DONT LET SOMEONE ELSE GET YOUR CASH. REMEMBER THESE ECONOMIC TIMES BRING OUT MORE AND MORE FRAUD.. GO WITHOUT YOUR CARD FOR A DAY OR TWO AND GO STRAIGHT TO THE BANK IF YOU HAVE TO... BUT DO NOT TRUST ANY NUMBER PROVIDED ON THESE POSTS OR LEFT IN TEXT OR VOICEMAIL.. ALSO I AM INTERESTED TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS BEEN PROVIDING THEIR PHONE NUMBBERS TO RANDOM PEOPLE OR TO ADS POSTED ON CRAIGSLIST FOR THINGS FOR SALE OR PERSONALS.. WHEN YOU DO THAT YOU ALWAYS RUN THE RISK OF PROVIDING YOUR CONTACT INFO TO PEOPLE WHO POST SOLELY FOR THE PURPOSE OR ROUNDING UP PHONE NUMBERS JUST FOR THIS PURPOSE.. PEOPLE BE AWARE OF DANGERS YOU ARE EXPOSING YOURSELF TO.. AND REALIZE.. YOUR BANK.. WILL NOT .. WILL NOT.. WILL NOTTTTTT.. JUST CALL AND LEAVE A VOICEMAIL WITH ANY INFORMATION OTHER THAN A CALL BACK NUMBER.. THEY WILL NEVER GIVE REASONS ON VOICEMAIL LIKE A HOLD OR SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY.. THEY WILL ONLY SAY CALL THIS NUMBER..
I did call bank of america to verifiy the number it is the bank they showed the call was made to its a good thing they do for unkown purchases to protect you. Its not a scam if in dout just call bank directly and they will look up the call that was made to you
While in Houston for my future daughter in law's bridal shower this weekend, I went shopping and purchased shoes and a dress. After that, we went to dinner...remember it is Saturday night, and when the check for dinner came, I handed them my BOA debit card...which I was told minutes later by the waiter, was declined. I tried calling the number on the card, and after verifying everything short of my blood type, found out their customer service was only Monday through Friday 8-5, and Saturday 9-1....the only option was to press 9 to "Freeze Your Account," which I did not, since I thought if I went to a BOA ATM, verified my card with my PIN, I could get cash out....it verified, but said "We are sorry, we are unable to complete this transaction," and returned my card...I reinserted my card and checked my balance....it was over $5000.00, yet I couldn't get a nickel out! If I only had that one card on me I would have been stuck like Chuck...couldn't buy gas to get home, get money out to eat, couldn't get a customer service representative to help....what happened to 24 hour customer care???? Yes, BOA SUCKS...tell them you will move your money and they laugh! I moved my business account to another institution, then I moved my personal checking...now I guess I am moving my other checking account and savings! And they probably won't even notice!!!!
