This is a FRAUDULENT phone number claiming to be Bank of America! Yes, they will tell you there has been unusual activity on your BoA account and that they need to verify information to confirm your recent transactions are legit. HOWEVER, the first clue that this number was phoney was they text messaged my phone with an alert...I don't have Mobile Notifications set up on my account. The second clue was the background music/ad they have playing while you wait to be connected is not the typical BoA brand music or voice-over artist. The third clue this was phoney was when the customer service rep asked me to give her my visa debit card number. BANK OF AMERICA NEVER ASKS FOR ACCOUNT, DEBIT, OR SOCIAL SECURITY INFORMATION!!! All of their terms of service and privacy statements say so. They declare on everything to be suspicious and report anyone claiming to be BoA asking for such info. I hung up on the person and immediately called the actual Bank of America number: 1-800-432-1000. I entered my info, and was quickly transferred to their fraud department because there was, in fact, a hold on my debit card because of suspicious activity. Guess what the suspicious activity was: a third party had gotten my information and was trying to test small debits to see if my credit card worked. MUST HAVE BEEN THE PEOPLE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS FRAUDULENT LINE! I told the representative that I had received voice mails and text messages from this number and it all seemed suspicious to me, and he praised me for hanging up and calling the REAL BoA number, and then told me to try to report this number, because they have been getting a lot of complaints similar to mine.
I read this post after getting a call from the 315 number this morning, and called BofA myself - not the number that called me, but their main number on the back of my card. The 315 number that called me was indeed BofA fraud protection. They called me last week to let me know that some merchant's database was compromised so they were sending out a new card with a new number as a precaution. The call I got this morning was a follow up.It is never a bad idea to call BofA on the number you know is valid in order to verify the legitimacy, but claiming that all calls from this 315 number are a scam is simply incorrect.
It's a scam. I do not have a B of A card. Also, the texts and messages are in Spanish. I don't speak or read Spanish, so I have no idea what they are even saying.
When I got woke up by this phone call I was thinking that my money was already gone, while still on the phone I got online and looked at my account, if they were not from BofA they could not have told me where my last 4 transactions were made. When I came to my senses, I started asking questions and they explained to me that a merchant had reported to them that one or more of their employees had stolen their credit card charges information and the reason that they (BofA) was putting a hold on my account was because I had verified that I made a purchase there. I do believe this is legit. So, they wont tell me which place it was and I have used 3 of them many times in the past, only one is "new" I will not be buying there any more! They said that my new card will arrive in about 7 days at that time my old card will be invalid. If I don't get a new card within the 7 days, I was wrong. They did not ask for any personal information except address verification to send the card.
I just received a call from this number. It is indeed Bank of America security department. They knew about the two most recent charges I tried to charge. They asked for the LAST FOUR digits of my SS, not the entire one. They did NOT ask for my full account number. This is a legit call, not a scam. It's possible that scammers can spoof a phone number though, so be careful. Obviously, if you don't have a BoA account or they're asking for info such as your full SS and Acct number, be weary.
This call is LEGIT and is NOT A SCAM. It is in fact Bank of America. They called me to let me know they are sending me a new debit card with a new number on it because my information may have been compromised..etc.This is TRUE because I actually got my new card in the mail 2 days ago.So again, this isn't a scam its totally legit.
A Jamaican me crazy man called me and said I won 1.5M and a Mercedes Benz. Said his name is John Anderson. Told me to collect I needed to go to Walmart and buy a Money Back Reloadable Card, scratch the ticket and call him back with the number....then he would come over my house and pay me the 1.5 Million and also give me the car.....This is a scamm....I checked other sites and other folks had the same issue.
