If you say it is not a scam, you are an idiot.IT is NOT a legitimate Bank of America number. I just got off the phone with BoA.It is a FRAUD. And if you are stupid enough to put in your personal informationinto a call made from a New York number that is not associated with Bank ofAmerica, then do so.What I would do is this...1. Ignore that stupid call2. Call Bank of America REAL phone number on the back of your card and speak with a REAL person in the fraud department3. Tell them you received a call from this number telling you that blah blah blah4. Bank of America will tell you that is a farce. That number is NOT on the back of my Business debit card. There is a toll-free 888 number on the back of my Business card. The dim wits called my Business toll-free number with their shenanigans. They know that out of all the people they dial, a good percentage of them will actually give up their valuable information! LOL!DON'T DO IT!Sheesh!Stupid is as Stupid does.
Watch your wallet folks. The scam idiots are out there. If you're a Bank of America customer and you receive a recorded telephone call thanking you for notifying them that you're going out of the country to monitor your account, and you're not going anywhere, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER LEFT FOR THEIR FRAUD REPORTING UNIT OF 1-877-833-5617. (The caller ID comes from 315-724-4022).When you call this number, it will sound like the real thing and will ask you to give them your account number to verify. BAM!!! That's how they get your account information. The real Bank of America does not ask for this info, only parts of you account number.I received this call and thought it sounded strange, so I called a different number that I knew was for reporting fraud information. Sure enough, it was a scam. So everyone beware.
The issue is this seems to be a case where the "It is a scam" and the "it is not a scam" groups could both be right.... some of the time.It sounds to me like this is a number that is actually used by the Bank sometimes/previously/currently-- But it is also being "spoofed" by scammers since that legitimacy could help them steal bank info.I am married to someone who is not from the US, and when she buys things from home we do get contacted regarding suspicious activity. I've never had an issue with that before. Today, something rubbed me the wrong way about how the system sounded, so I hung up and called the number on the back of my card. I spoke to someone who did see a purchase that my wife had made "overseas" but I was also told to be careful in regards to providing any of my information over the phone to those calls. Two people said that just calling the number on the back of the card when you get those calls is the safest approach -- you know you are speaking with the bank since you called them.It is that simple.
I have a missed call from this number, so I googled it and this page came up. I then logged onto my BOA account and found that the number is their number to call for people calling from outside the US collect to BOA. I did not receive a voice mail from them. In the past, when I have had a hold put on my card I have received an e-mail from BOA and there is an alert section on your online banking. So, same as the last comment, potentially BOA, but potentially a scammer.
the message says if this is an operator with an overseas collect call they will accept the charges.....Learn to listen to what is being said
It actually is from B of A. I verified it though their actual phone number. I had already been notified by my online access to BofA and was told to expect a new card. I received it and that number was calling to verify if I had gotten it.
Use to work in the Credit card fraud department at BOFA. This is BOFA number. I Called bofa to make sure it was there number and why someone was someone calling me. I was told because I added travel information to the ACT so they wanted to make sure I was the one who called yesterday. But it is always good to tell the caller that you will call the number on the back of the card , since, you don’t feel comfortable providing your information to the caller.
It's BofA. Legit. I bought a PC game online from a UK vendor and they called me within a couple minutes of the purchase. I also went into my BofA online account and it made me verify the transaction.
I RECIEVED A NEW DEBIT CARD IN THE MAIL PRIOR TO RECIEVING A PHONE CALL FROM 315.724.4022. I WILL FOLLOW UP ON THIS. IT DOES GENUINELY PISS ME OFF THAT BANK OF AMERICA TAKES ACTION WITHOUT FIRST ASKING IF IT IS NECCESSARY...I NOW HAVE TO CHANGE ALL OF MY ONLINE BILLING WITH 15 DIFFERENT COMPANIES JUST BECAUSE I CALLED AN OUT OF STATE LOCATION TO MAKE A PURCHASE WITH NIKE !!!! SEEMS TO ME THAT B OF A PUNISHES PEOPLE FOR USING THIER OWN MONEY AS THEY SEE FIT. LIKE CHARGING $10 A POP TO TRANSFER MONEY FROM YOUR SAVINGS TO YOUR CHECKING.........I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING GOING WITH ANOTHER BANK.WHICH WOULD ALSO SOLVE ANY FRAUDULANT INQUIRIES ABOUT MY B OF A ACCOUNT!!!!!!!!
