they say bank of america and i have unusual activity on my account and need to call to uplift the hold they have on my account but no unusual activity is on my account and there is no holdso i believe they are scamming to get you social security number and account number to actually steal money
This is NOT a real Bank of America number. Today I received two calls to my cell from this number, a similar text message (from 18664599195, which is also mentioned online as linked to a BoA scam) AND an email to my personal e-mail address... all claiming to be from BoA concerning a security hold on my checking account. I decided not to ring this number back and instead to call the customer service line on the back of my card. The rep told me none of these communications were legitimate and there was no hold on my account - and BoA would never have sent me a text, because I am not signed up for mobile alerts. This is definitely a scam. DO NOT give these people any of your details.
Total scam they called my mom several times today. Asking her to input her card number. I had her hang up and call the 800 number on her card. BOA had no idea what she was talking about and there was no suspicious activity on her card. They did say its a scam call came up on caller id as boa and had a nice recording thats said boa fraud division. Sounded legit, but never give your info to anyone over the phone. Hang up and call a trusted 800 or local BOA branch number.
Call Bank of America today and they said the number is fraudelent. They stated that your name and the last four digits of your social security number is enough information to clean out your account. Anyone that receives these types of calls please contact the abuse department for Bank of America at: abuse@bankofamerica.com
Total scam sounds legit on the phone but its not. NEVER GIVE YOUR CARD INFO OR ANY OTHER INFO OUT OVER A INBOUND CALL. CALL THE 800 NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD OR A LOCAL BRANCH. they called my mom i told her not to give any info and hang up. She called the the 800 number on Her card and they confirmed it was a scam she had no suspicious activity on her account.
spoke to a boa customer service rep and then specialist, number is confirmed as not being in theire records, i.e. fake also if you call the real customer service number for the particullar department, the information requested is different.
Received call this morning and allowed it to go to voicemail when I didn't recognize the number (1-315-724-4022). They left a message claiming to be Bank of America trying to contact Kim (Ken?) Wilkins due to suspicious activity on an ATM account. I'm not Kim nor Ken Wilkins. Was told to call back 866-242-6289. Every indication I've found is that this is a scam.
Real. Look at the back of your Debit card. It's right there. BofA Fraud department. Did not ask for my social.
I got a call from this number ... and it left a voice message about unusual debit card activity and requested a callback. It is legit. I was on vacation in Vegas and when I tried to draw out BoA ATM money several times in a row, the fraud software kicked in, stopped honoring the card and then the phone call from this number came about 12 hours later. I called the number and after working through the questions, it spit back at me my three most recent transactions, asking if they were valid, so this is obviously a legit number. I also called Bank of America direct, which is the way to do it to be on the safe side. The agent recognized the phone call process as correct/legit. Keep in mind that what you may think is NOT unusual card activity may not agree with what the bank's (mediocre) computer programmers may think. The day prior I had withdrawn at a Vegas teller window with proper ID (and I travel to Vegas four times a year), so ATM cash transactions the next day at the same branch, in Vegas no less, shouldn't have seemed all that suspect. Anymore it seems the banks will kick in the fraud protection stuff for any ATM cash transaction over $100 if you are out of your home state.
