Recording about lowering credit card interest. Pressed 2 to opt out and male answered. He hung up when I asked to be removed from their database and call lists.
Hate these damn calls! I'm also on the Do Not Call Registry. It's always a computer generated voice, they NEVER mention the name of the credit card and they use different phone #s (as per caller i.d.). Around 2 weeks ago, one message said, "This is your last chance to lower…We've sent notices in the mail (lie)…" I was hoping that was the end. Wrong. I always hang up - never speak to anyone.
I just received a telephone call from this foreigner - couldn't even pronounce my last name. He first called using another number identified as Unknown Caller (310-388-6861). First he asked if my credit card balance was over $3500 - I said yes... Then he asked expiration date - I gave him one. Then he asked whether it was Visa or MC. MC I told him. Then please read me the exact numbers... I told him no and that he was attempting a scam. I got both his numbers anyways... Beware - this guy is up to no good. I WONDER if he's actually calling from America?
NEVER Give your information to anyone. Noone but You, Yourself & You should ever have any personal info . My info is locked in a box. I gave the key to a friend, should something happen to me. The CC company already has this info. Anyone who should have this info already has it. They will never ask you for it. NEVER NEVER. I can't believe you even answer the phone. I have a answering machine. Ringers are off all the phones. If the machine comes on, I screen the calls but 99.9% of these nuisance calls do not leave messages. So I don't here any of them.
Oh Yea. DNC List does not work if you do not have an actual number. Most of these numbers are phished & in reality are on auto dialers. Nothing you can do except purchase a call blocker program but if the numbers are unavailable then blocking it is unavailable as well.Just like if you block your number noone will be able to get. You can't block what isn't seen. There will always be a way for the scummers to bypass the system.
I answered the call and was told they were calling to lower my credit card interest rate because I was a good customer paying my bill on time. I asked what card and was told "your visa". I had to ask again what visa card and was told Chase. The person had a strong accent and the line quality was very poor, so I said good bye and hung-up.
A note on Unwanted Calls. Our world is changing. Sadly - The 'Do Not Call' list only works with Legitimate Telemarketers but unfortunately does not apply to. Survey's, Charities and of course, Criminals. These Criminals have various kinds of ploys. Some hide behind Surveys and Charities and of course the two big ones are Debt Collectors and Low Interest offers. The only way to avoid these calls is DO NOT RESPOND because if you do respond you will not only continue to be harassed by the same caller but your number will be sold to other harassers now that they know you are a live Human Being with a real phone number. Another sad note is that even if you do respond to a legitimate Survey or Charity - you will be placed on what I refer to as a 'Sucker List' and your number will be passed to and fro for all to enjoy, including the criminals. Again, our world has changed and responding to any of these callers only places us at risk for who knows what?" The only way to avoid is Caller ID and/or a phone that can 'Block' callers who will not stop.
