Received several calls from this number and after checking on here and seeing what they said to other people I decided to answer. I played along as the guy told me he was calling from Microsoft and about the error messages and when he started trying to walk me through how to "fix" my computer and asked me what I saw I told him I saw a scam. He began saying very unrepeatable things to me and I just laughed and told him don't get mad just because I caught you. They still call back but nobody answers when I say hello.
Just got the call from 646-612-3456. Didnt answer. Got the same call about 3 weeks ago. The man want access to my computer. While on the phone with him. I contacted my computer wizard that takes care of all my security. He said to get his number and tell him you will call back after you check with the BBB in New York to see if they are a registered company . Said he wsd with micrisoft and just kept sayong he needed to help me. The man got mad at me and hung up.
This number and others showing to be from Kingston Jamaica are scammers trying to gain remote access to your computer in order to down load your user ID's and passwords to credit cards companies, banks etc to rob you. They may be spoofing phone numbers to show up on your caller ID to hide the real number that is calling you. These worthless low-life SOB's have called me a dozen times in the past year and all they get from me is a massive gigantic cussing.
Scam caller using VOIP. Call forwarding from 970-522-4643 and forwarded from 970-514-3215 cell.
I have been called twice in the last week by people from this number. I am an IT security professional and I admit that they are blatantly obstinate. I laid out there whole scheme that I have warned clients about and the guy with an India accent only hung up when I told him I was going to report him to the FCC. The woman that called today didn't even blink and I hung up.They both claimed to be from Microsoft and claimed that my PC was sending malicious traffic and I needed to let them access my machine remotely to fix it. This scam is called Vishing (Voice Phising) and is quite old. Microsoft will never call you this way. If your machine had a problem with malware being detected you would be contacted by your ISP or your Internet access would simply be shut off and you would find out why when you call your ISP to find out why.Report the number to the FCC and block it if you can. If you want to know more about this scam search Vishing.
In the past 5 days, we have had 7 calls from them. I even told them I don't have a computer and not to call here, but they keep calling. Very annoying. I am so tired of this kinds of calls. It doesn't work to be on the no callregistry. They just keep calling and now that the government is closed, it's even worse. I wish I could get them to keep calling the members of congress to see how annoying it really is!
They don't sell anyones number, they have an auto dialer, it doesn't know if the number is disconnected or no answer, or answer, doesn't matter, when they call me I always answer police dept computer fraud division , and they hang up real quick and then I don't get another call until the auto dialer gets back around to my number in the 314 area code here.
Indian accented woman said her company detected a problem with my computer and she could fix it. When I asked her company name and her name she got nervous. Finally I told her it was a scam and she hung up.
Note: Even if your someone calls claiming to be your ISP. Note the information they provide and do not give them your personal information. Explain that you will call your ISP yourself and then hangup and call the number to your ISP found from a legitimate source. (monthly bill, fridge magnet, phone book, company website, etc.)
