This is AES. They call incessantly before the due date of my loan, even though it has been paid by the due date every month for many years. Today, they called at 7:30 AM which I believe is a violation of the law.
The Justing guy they are looking for either had your number in the past, or gave them a bogus number which happened to be yours. Be more forceful if they call again saying that it isn't his number, you don't know anyone by that name, and if they continue to harass you you will have to take legal action. Otherwise they will never leave you alone.
I get calls from this number everytime I am behind on an AES payment. I call and make arrangements with AES but I think they have a separate "collections" department for delinquent accounts. I belive that they get a percentage of money they can collect on student loans, so I NEVER pay the person (or even answer these calls) from the 717 number. They are rude and harrassing. I say deal directly with AES if you have student loans through them...if not, just ignore them.
Thank you all for the posts. I am in the same boat. Make my payments on time like clock work but keep getting calls from this number. They don't leave a vm so I decided to google the number and found your posts.
Not everyone posting here has an account with AES. And many of us that do are NOT late, so you might want to think (and actually read the posts) before saying something that makes you look stupid.
I have been getting calls from them yesterday and today but I don't have any outstanding student loans. I paid off my loans 5 years ago. Also this number is new and I have moved several times since paying off my loans, so there is definitely something wrong with this.
I recieved a call from that same number aslo a 7177205848 number about my loans coming into repayment. They asked me to verfy my birthdate or the last 4 digits of SSN. I refused because of fear of identiy theft. I recieved some documentation fromthe company to fill out a forbadence form or whatever which I filled out and sent in even though I was in school. They kept calling mr from that number but it eventually stopped. Little did I know my failure to except the calls resulted in negative credit reporting. I was able to get it off but after 2 years of it being on my credit unaware has hindered my. Truth me they are legit. On cell phones it may come up unavailable and one home phone caller ids it comes up as PHEAA. Now I know PHEAA is correlated with finacial aid but that's it.
I really wish I would have known all this before getting a loan through them. Oh well, live and learn.
They called me too - I sent my payment through my online banking system, but apparently it takes several days to go through.
Although it may seem strange the company is legit and instead of hanging up on us you should have requested out phone number or website and updated you address yourself. I work for them and I can guarantee that if you are not in repayment as of yet, your missing important information about your loan when we get your address, we will continue to call you and references because you did sign a contract with is, we will send a delinquent notice telling you consequences of non payment and then you'll call us all upset with an attitude and yelling because of your precious credit being hurt. Trust it is strange but you should at least keep with your loans an the companys your loans are with.
