I believe this actually IS AES but.. until they leave a message, I am assuming it must not be that important for me to return their call.
some one called would not give me their name but wanted my DOB to verify I was not the person they wanted. If this is the case , why not verify who you are (Penna) . I deserve to know who is trying to get information from me.
they have called before but i never answered. Today i decided to answer. wish i hadn't!! The lady asked for me by my ex-married name. I explained that was me but that we have divorced. She said she needed to verify my DOB and i told her no. She also would not tell me what the call was in reference to. All she would say was that it was about ex-husbands loans. but she couldnt give more info unless i verified my DOB. Ugh!! We went round and round for about 2 minutes then she hung up on me. What a crock!!
If you borrowed a student loan it is your responsibility to make sure your current address and phone # are updated. You also listed references on your master prom note that allows servicers such as AES to call your references to provide your current information if they have it, but not for them to receive details about your account. The only time references are called is if your address or phone number went invalid. It does not necessarily mean your account is delinquent. If AES is asking for your DOB it is either because they have an account for you that you are actually responsible for or someone with the same name as you had invalid information and they used directory assistance and ended up with a "bad" number (if this is the case they will remove your phone # since it was listed on someone else's account), verifying your DOB can ensure it is your account or it is not. AES services student loans on behalf of multiple lenders, they have to authenticate who you are when you call or even if they call you before releasing details of your account. If you are delinquent than they want to help resolve the delinquency, and of course it is in your best interests if they ask if you can make a payment first. If you say no, than they will try to offer other options based on your eligibility. Good Luck!
I had a loan with these people back in 2005 but the interest was so high! I would end up payng back triple what I borrowed so I sent it back like I was told to do by their company. They're calling me now saying that I owe on that loan. I have the closing papers I was sent after hounding them for the papers. These people are extremely rude and the woman who called me today hung up on me when I asked for their address and to speak to a supervisor.
