Also, the representatives will ask for birthday to verified that the person answering the phone is the covered member under the plan. I actually called the telephone number on the back of my member card to verify this concern and they said they do ask for date of birth because of HIPPA. If member is asked for SS#, then that is a REDFLAG for a scam.

I received a call from this number and it was a nurse from United Healthcare Optum Health Solutions to check in on me after a serious illness. She did leave a message with her information.

This is not a scam. It is legitimate. I had called United Health Care to enroll in the disease management plan to save money on medical expenses. I was told by someone in Customer Service I would be transferred to the nurse line and would need to leave my name and phone number and that a Registered Nurse would call me back and that's exactly what happened. When I found out she was in Georgia, I did ask why my caller ID said Twincities, MN and she said their calls come up that way because it is their headquarters or home office (I forgot which she said!). I get a lot of unwanted calls too, but I will repeat that this one is NOT a scam. It is the wellness program through United Health Care and a benefit to save you money! (Had to choose "Unknown" for call type below because nothing described this type call)

Then ull be waiting quite some time to get medications which could be for example Botox which I get from United Healthcare from their approval dept that is usually for the ones that go straight to ur dr office for them to treat u with. Doesn't mean it's Botox, as I said an example. I've even been part of an identity theft business for years so I know all about the types of scams out there. Asking why they don't leave a msg is a silly question when they haven't verified its you which has to be done according to HIPPA Law. So it would be ok to leave personal into on a phone number that possibly isn't yours, but it's not ok to ask u a day of birth when they obviously already have the informations. They usually have to ask 2 items to verify it is the member so that's just the law. This number is also part of a wellness program which offers benefits through United Healthcare, as well as the prescription info I mentioned above. Sometimes depending on how your profile is set up & if you have given them permission already to leave a message at that particular number they will leave a message. I actually like them to call my cell phone number. Not every state offers names with the caller ID feature as another member was concerned about, so that's the reason for that. I think u should refrain from the ridiculous "Bite me..." Type comments as u posted in a forum & people r trying to help u with the issue at hand. I have lots of medical issues & have been called through this & other numbers from United Healtcare for many different types of issues. I completely understand not wanting to give out person info, BUT UNLESS IT'S YOUR SOCIAL SEC NUMBER, CREDIT CARD NUMBER OR BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER DO NOT BE SO SURE. YOU CAN ALSO ASK THEM IF U CAN VERIFY SOMETHING ELSE THAT U R MORE COMFORTABLE WITH WHICH WILL SHOW THEY ALREADY HAVE MORE INFO ABOUT YOU. WORSE CASE SCENARIO YOU CAN ALWAYS ASK WHO THEY ARE & WHAT NUMBER YOU CAN CALL THEM BACK AT & THEN CALL YOUR HEALTHCARE COMPANY & ASK THEM IF THEY HAVE THIS DEPARTMENT AS PART OF YOUR BENEFITS. IT IS 100% USED FOR PRESCRIPTIONS THAT R SENT TO A DR OFFICE, ALSO USED FOR WELLNESS BENEFITS OFFERED BY THE EMPLOYER OR SPOUSE's EMPLOYER, AS WELL AS FOR FOLLOWUPS & OTHER BENEFITS YOUR HEALTH INSURANCE MAY OFFER.

I answered this one out of curiosity as I usually don't answer calls from numbers I don't know. Another annoying robocall. This time claiming to be calling from Medicare. Would give it zero stars if I could.
Because I didn't know who the caller was, I sent it to voicemail. The caller did not leave a message and hung up. I assumed it was another robo call and when I checked this site my assumption was confirmed.
